Diana's POVAfter a few deep breaths, I pulled back onto the road, driving more carefully now, eyes scanning the darkness ahead. The GPS led me deeper into the hills, the houses becoming fewer andfarther between.Finally, after turning onto a narrow private road, I saw it through the trees— a large house,almost a mansion, setback from the road. A tall iron gate blocked the driveway, with thick stone walls extending in both directions. Even in the darkness, I could make out security camerasmounted on the walls.I parked at the gate, leaving my headlights on to illuminate the entrance. There was no intercom that I could see, just a biometric panel that probably read fingerprints or retinal scans. Next to it was a simple doorbell.I took a deep breath and pressed the doorbell. Its chime echoed somewhere beyond the gate, but no one answered. I waited a full minute before trying again.
