Franklin's POV I finally worked things out with my mother. She'd easily come over to the woods to visit several times, and she'd come with my sisters. The East wasn't going to be a good fit, but an already known place for us in the woods was better. I'll help Paenyrah take the throne, and just after that, we'd get to do whatever we like. “Why don't you want the throne for yourself?” My mother asked for the umpteenth time in a few hours. “I'll be too unstable. Paenyrah is the best fit for it. She has the brains, and then the calm and cold.” I muttered. “Too bad you wouldn't be here long enough to be with Jessica.” She said, pinning her gaze on the table in front of her. She had tried everything to pair me with Jessica, but I wasn't just interested. “I already have a woman. You know it.” I said with a straight face. “A woman that you want to throw away your life for!” She yelled, rolling her eyes at me, and then she hissed. “C'mon, you don't get to be like this!” I snapped. “We

Scarlett's POV The pain I felt was immense. I had just told the most difficult lie of my life. Of course, I love him. Of course, my body aches for his touch. Of course, I want to be with him. I didn't expect it to hurt this much. What hurt the most was Franklin's eyes. He blinked them so many times, which never really happened. I saw the amount of tears that had welled up and the restraint he had. I saw his eyes turn black so many times, but this one hurt the most. Arya surprisingly wasn't trying to lock me up or do any of the things I had anticipated her doing. Instead, she hugged me and let me cry in her arms. I wailed so loudly that my wails were louder than the sound of the raging storm outside. The reason for the storm was not far-fetched. I couldn't stop thinking that I made a very bad decision. I shouldn't have left the palace. I should have figured out something else. I could have made it work. I was just scared of committing or scared of doing new things I wasn't al

Scarlett's POVThane's hand moved to my waist, and he aggressively pulled me to himself. I tugged harder at his shirt, and he grabbed my butt, rolling his tongue over mine. I could feel his strong erection already, but I couldn't go any further. I pushed him off myself gently, shaking my head as I did.“I can't.” I muttered, whimpering breathlessly. Franklin's eyes were fixated on mine, although I had the intense urge to look down. “That's perfectly okay.” Thane said, moving closer to me. “We can see a movie like old times.” “I'd really like that.” I muttered, grabbing my laptop on the desk. We laid on the bed and saw a random movie together. It literally had too many genres that we could choose. At some point, it felt like a horror movie, and later on, a rom-com, and then it felt like porn, until it became a thriller. I liked Thane's sturdy arms around me, and the little caresses every now and then made me feel better. He was definitely very good at doing this. “So, why are yo

Franklin's POV I wasn't sure how long I had been in my room all alone, should definitely just be a couple of hours, and all I felt was pain. My chest reconfigured in ways that hurt more than I could imagine. My heart broke every time I remembered, and not once did I ever forget those words. “I don't love you, Franklin.” Those words stuck to me more than the outer bark to a tree. It gave me nightmares and made sleeping very difficult. I had thought I'd do the world with her. Fuck, if she wanted me to rule, I'd have done everything to get the throne, just to keep her! I'd have done anything and everything for her. Those words were enough to keep me away. They were enough to bruise my ego and make me take a break, but not enough to stop me from wanting her. Scarlett was in my head night and day. She had a special compartment already because she never seemed to take a break. I was also tormented by the thoughts of her, but it'd also seem like I wouldn't breathe without those thoughts

Thane's POV I had just gotten back from the errand I was sent, and the aura I felt just walking in from the gates was so strong and sad. The house was barely ever happy unless the wolves were doing something to have fun, but this one was particularly sad. I walked in, and headed straight for my mother's room. Surprisingly, she had a smile on, which was very random. “You're back.” She said, taking the candle from me. I didn't bother asking what she wanted to use it for, because what use would it be?“Pack your bags. We're leaving today.” Joe said like I hadn't had enough bad news. My stomach did the grumbling for me. I have to go through immense torture at home and still be far away from Scarlett. “Why are we leaving today?” The question slipped out of my mouth.Joe looked taken aback, but he still replied. “The pack house is ready.” He said, looking at me with a hardened face. “Isn't it?”“No, it's not.” Jane responded, and I almost felt relieved until she spoke again. “They said
