Chapter 18 LEONE The sound of glass tapping faded in, and from the corner of my eyes, I could see the guest straightening up and whirling around to face the podium as the chatter on their lips came to an end. My grandfather stood at the podium – in his immaculate black tuxedo suit and white crisp shirt that showed the opposite of how regal he could be – tall and proud, his masked eyes sweeping the room like a king over his court.
