Elena gets abducted

~ELENA~ I sit stiffly at the couch, staring at my best friends flirting shamelessly with my stepbrothers and giving all their attention to them.I feel my stomach churning.Jealousy. That's what this is.And I begin to wonder. Did my best friends come to see me or my sexy step brothers??I don't like them looking at my stepbrothers like that.I don't like how they flirt, how the boys smirk, and how easy it all comes. They're mine. All three of them. And I don't want to share. Best friends or not!!!“I'm going to kill them,” I mutter under my breath.“What was that??” Valentina says, plopping beside me with a sly grin.“Nothing,” I say quickly. “Are you ready to go??”“Oh, com'on. We just got here” Valentina says.Gianna joins us, lips pouty. “We wanted to hang out here. With them.”“You mean, drool over them,” I snap. “Did you both come to see me or them??”“Wait. Don't tell us you're jealous??” Valentina asks. They both laugh. But I need to get out. Breat

You're all mine

~VINCENZO~ Some minutes after Elena leaves with her friends, the doorbell starts to ring. And whoever that's ringing seems impatient as they keep pressing the bell over and over again.I groan loudly and walk to the door to open it as Riccardo and Nico don't make a move to open it.Lazy asses!I open the door and see Gianna and Valentina standing there, breathing and panting heavily, like they're been running.I quickly scan the surroundings with my eyes.“Where is Elena??” I ask.“She…she was…taken away” Gianna stammers.“What do you mean she's taken away??” I ask loudly.Immediately, Nico and Riccardo are beside me.“We're walking, then suddenly a car stopped in front of us. A man came down from the car and pushed Elena inside the car. Everything happened so fast” Valentina explains. She's more calm than Gianna.“Fucking hell” Nico swore loudly.“Her phone. Is her phone with her??” I ask.“We don't know. This is her bag. It fell off during the struggle,” Gianna

Elena gets rescued

~VINCENZO~The road winds like a serpent beneath the tires of the bulletproof van, the silence between us heavy with fury.I can't breathe properly. My heart is pounding so hard, it feels like it's about to crack through my ribs. My jaw clenches. My fists are white around the gun in my lap.“Drive faster,’’ I snap at Riccardo.“We're almost there,” he growls, foot slamming harder on the pedal. “I swear if Giacomo touched her….”“I'll fucking rip him apart,” Nico mutters from the back seat, his voice low and deadly.I stare down at the tracker blinking on my screen. She's here. She's close. The GPS tracker leads us to an estate tucked far from the main city, surrounded by high walls and guarded gates.Riccardo kills the headlights as we approach the last turn. “That’s the house,” he says, pointing to a massive compound beyond the hill.“It's a damn fortress,”Nico mutters.*I don't care if it's the gates of hell,” I hiss. “We're going in.” “Four guards outside. Arme

Call off the engagement

Pain explodes through Giacomo's skull as Nico slams him against the wall. Blood runs down his face, pooling into his mouth—metallic, hot.His ribs ache, every breath a goddamn stab.Vincenzo’s eyes are pits of rage, his fists dripping with Giacomo's blood.“You think this is over?” Vincenzo growls. He punches Giacomo again, cracking his jaw to the side. Giacomo hears a pop. Something gives way. The pain is blinding. His scream is muffled by his own choking breath.Riccardo tightens a belt around Giacomo's wrist and yanks it upward, dislocating his shoulder with a sickening crunch.“AHHHHHHHH!” Giacomo howls, head slamming back into the wall. “Fuck! You’ll regret this! My father…”Vincenzo grabs his hair and jerks his head back.“We know who your father is,” Vincenzo hisses. “That’s the only reason you’re still breathing.”Nico laughs coldly and steps back. “But your dog? He’s not so lucky.”Giacomo's eyes snap wide.“No.”Footsteps.And then—click click click—the sound of paws on mar

An angry Lorenzo

~ELENA~“Would anyone like to explain to me what the hell is going on in this house?” Lorenzo asks, his voice is calm….but deadly. No one responds.“Are you all deaf?? What the hell is happening here??” He thunders angrily and I jump in fright.Valentina and Gianna gasps beside me in fear.“My….My friends…came over,” I stammer.“Your friends??” He drawls, staring at Gianna and Valentina. They step behind me in fright.“I invited them over,” I say.“On whose permission??” He yells.“I…. ummm…. I” I stammer like a fool.“Don't you know that strangers are not allowed in this house??” He barks. “On whose permission??”“I permitted her,” I hear a voice say.I turn back immediately. It's Riccardo.Lorenzo stares daggers at Riccardo.“You've forgotten who made the rules of this house??” Lorenzo demands.“No, but she pleaded….”Before Riccardo can finish speaking, Lorenzo rushes toward him like an angry lion. And when he raises his hands to hit, I and the girls gasp

Rules of the house

~ELENA~The rulebook is stained with blood and I wonder whose blood it was.The thought makes me panic. My hands start to shake. I can't control it.And then the book falls to the ground with a loud thud.I let out a soft cry in fear as I stare at the big book on the floor like it's going to grow a big and wide mouth and swallow me up.What exactly have I gotten myself into??I calm myself down, taking deep breaths as I finally pick up the book.I close my eyes and say a silent prayer before opening my eyes again.I turn to the first page and read its content. This Rulebook governs the operations, conduct and sanctity of the house. These are not mere rules. They are law. Breaking them is treason. Treason is punished by fire or silence.I roll my eyes, then turn to the next page.✦ HOUSE RULES ✦1. No Outsiders Beyond the Gate.Visitors, strangers, or even friends not sworn to the Family are forbidden to cross the threshold. All exceptions must be approved by

The punishment

~ELENA~“Where the hell were you guys today??” Lorenzo thunders angrily.“What do you mean by that, father??” Nico questions back.I don't see it coming. It happens in split seconds.Lorenzo throws the bottle of whiskey on the desk at Nico. The bottle hits Nico hard and crashes to the floor, breaking into pieces and spilling all its contents out.I let out a soft scream. Is this why my stepbrothers didn't want me to come in here??Because this is a place of no mercy??“How dare you??” Lorenzo growls. “How dare you answer my question with a question??”Nico doesn't speak. He just bends his head low.“You'll be punished for that,” Lorenzo announces.I look up at him immediately. What kind of punishment??“Take off your footwear, Nico, and step on the broken glasses,” he commands darkly.“No!” I scream inwardly.I watch wide eyed as Nico takes off his footwear without a word and begins to step on the broken bottle's pieces.I whimper in fear and pity as the bottle

A harsh warning

~ELENA~ I keep moving back till my back hits the soundproof wall as Lorenzo prowls toward me like a predator trying to attack its prey. The glint of the knife in his hands catches the light, and for a split second, it looks like it's soaked in blood.I shake my head. I'm just imagining things. He stops inches away from me.His presence alone is suffocating. The room suddenly feels colder.“You??” He says, almost amused. “You want to take the punishment?”I don't respond. My throat is dry, and fear has clamped down on my vocal cords like a vice.He bends at the waist, leveling his eyes with mine. “Do you think you're some kind of martyr, Elena?? That I won't hurt you because of your mom? That you'll earn my sons' respect and admiration by offering yourself up??”I want to scream “I already earn their admiration” back at him, but I know best not to.So I just swallow hard and stare at him.He moves the knife slowly, deliberately, letting the cold blade trail

The mystery house

~RICCARDO~The second Elena asks the question, the atmosphere in the room changes. The lightness in Nico’s smirk vanishes. The teasing gleam in his eyes? Gone.Silence slams into the room like a thunderclap.Vincenzo stops cleaning the cut on Nico’s foot. His hands still, his expression blanking.I tense beside the door, my fingers curling into fists so tight my knuckles go white.Nico doesn’t answer immediately.Instead, he stares at the photo—his smile in it frozen in time. A memory. But his eyes now? Cold. Guarded.Vincenzo is the first to move.He straightens and walks over to the bar, pouring himself a glass of something strong. He throws it back in one gulp.“Elena,” he says quietly, back still turned to us. “Don’t ever ask about her again.”She blinks, confused. “Why not?”“That girl…” I speak up now, unable to keep my voice from cracking slightly. “That’s our sister.”Elena’s eyes widen. “Your…what?”“Our elder sister,” Nico mutters, voice hoarse, almost re

Finally, great news.

~ELENA~I freeze, my heart slamming against my ribcage. That voice… it's soft.Familiar.Trembling.I slowly turn around, and there she is.My mom.She stands a few feet away in her nightgown, barefoot, arms folded tightly like she's trying to hold herself together. Her eyes are wide with concern, and maybe… guilt.“Elena,” she says again, stepping closer. “I…I heard what happened. Are you hurt?”I stare at her. This woman. This woman who promised to always protect me.To always choose me.And yet… she brought me here.To this house. To this family. To this twisted, haunted mansion with its rules, its punishments, and its buried pain.I take a slow breath, but it doesn't calm me. Not even close.“No, I’m not hurt,” I say flatly. Her shoulders sag slightly with relief. “Thank God. I was so worried. I tried knocking earlier but…”I cut her off, my voice sharp like ice.“Don’t.”She blinks. “Don’t what?”“Don’t act like you care now.”“Elena…”I hold up a hand. “
