Chapter Eleven

Mellisa's POV “Lenny! Lenny!” I scream through the mindlink, but she's gone silent.“Dad! Mom!” I screamed, but got no reply at all. “Baby!” I tried calling out Gift.I took a sharp turn towards the pack border and my paws hit the ground. I zoom past the blurry trees.“Mellisa!” Adam pushes through the barriers in my mind. His black wolf materialises by me.I ignore him completely, I can't deal with his shit right now.“What's wrong?” He asks, despite my silence. I still don't answer him.“Mellisa,” Fred's sharp voice cuts through my mind. “Where are you headed?” He asks to follow us along with Aiden.“They've been poisoned with gas,” I utter with pain. What if they're all dead, I'd never forgive myself.“Warriors, follow! The bunker has been attacked with gas, proceed with caution.” Aiden orders through the pack's mindlink.Countless paws hit the bare forest floor, we all have family and friends in the bunker. A frustrated growl resounds through the mindlink “My kids aren't answe

Adam's POV I pulled Diana by her arm towards the trees, somewhere far off so no one could hear us.“Adam, where are we going?” She asks in her bratty voice, that I was clearly getting tired of.“Somewhere where no one would make out how insensitive you're being right now.”We get far enough and halt beneath a large almond tree. She rips her arm off me, “Let me go, Adam.”“I sure will, what were you even thinking?”She folded her arms sassily. “Nothing, I was clearly placing boundaries.”I rolled my eyes at her stupidity. “You dare speak badly about your Alpha!”Her face scrunched in disgust. “She's no Alpha of mine. Did you give her your title?”“Is that all you care about?”“Yes, by the way I'm the future, Luna, so she should respect me too.”“Hmmmmm, you're lucky she hasn't punished you for the continuous disrespect.”“She can't do anything.”“Since you feel she's so incompetent, where were you when the attack happened?”Her eyes lingered around, not being able to stare at me in th

Mellisa's POV My chest feels like it is breaking into a million pieces, I thought I was over him but I guess not.I regret coming here, I didn't know he was here but I needed some air and this is my safe space.“I should go now, I just remembered something.” Noah clears his throat awkwardly and briskly leaves.“How long were you standing there eavesdropping?” Adam asks defensively, his once guilty expression changed to one of irritation.“How dare you think you can talk to me like that after your stupid allegations.”His eyes go black in fury, “You refer to the death of my parents and the betrayal of a mate as stupid?”I roll my eyes in annoyance, “Yes, because no matter how much I try to make you see that I was innocent you refuse to see.”“Every evidence showed your betrayal, in fact if you had just betrayed me it would have been better. But you also betrayed the pack that you were supposed to cherish and lead.”Anger surged through my veins. “A pack I'm supposed to cherish and lead

Mellisa's POV My heart pounded so hard in my chest, it hurt so bad. I rubbed my hand against her face gently, cuddling her close. Tears streamed down my face.“Aiden, please help!” I screamed through the mindlink. “What's wrong, Alpha?” I could feel his concern through the mindlink. “Intruder! We have an Intruder! Tell Dr. Freda to come here immediately, Cheryl's been shot with silver and wolves bane.”“Who's Cheryl?” He asks, confused.“Just do it!” I block him out. She's getting cold, but I don't even know what to do.The pain of losing her resonates through me. A bright light shone from the pendant; it engulfed us both completely in the dark night. It sucks into her, I'm dazed momentarily as this happens. There's so much to know about this.A sharp intake of breath pulls me from my thoughts. Cheryl shoots up with an arm to her chest taking deep breaths. “Cheryl!” I jump into her hands, holding her tight. “Don't scare me like that ever again,” I say with relief plain in my vo

Chapter Fifteen

Unknown POV Something doesn't seem right, I sent my prodigy, Shadow, to check out what happened after exposing those in the bunker to poisonous gas but he isn't back yet.Surprisingly no one has called me to talk about the death in the Octavuis pack. I peer out of my room window in anticipation for his return.A weird familiar knock resounds outside my door. My door knob twists open and a dark figure steps in.“Master,” the dark figure calls to me. I turn from the window to face the figure.“Finally, you're back. Any good news?" I ask hastily, a sinister smile appearing on my face. His dark eyes grow cold, making the very air grow chilly.“No, Master.”Suits appear on my forehead immediately, it's not the response I was expecting. “What's that supposed to mean?”“There's no casualty, it would seem like they have a back up plan for everything.”A low guttural sound resounds from my throat. I shifted partially and pushed everything off the table. I pick up my table and crash it again

Mellisa's POV I sat down next to the white-haired woman in the open field. She smelled like jasmine and pine with a touch of morning dew. After some seconds of silence she said, “I was thinking that you would bombard me with so many questions by now.” “There are too many questions running through my mind. But the most important one is why do I suddenly feel so safe around you?”A small smile plays on her lips. “Because deep down you know I won't hurt you.”“Okay, so who are you? I thought it would be a one time thing but I'm seeing you again.”“I'm your great-great grandmother. My soul traverses between the afterlife and this pendant.”My eyes widen in realization, she's so old. No wonder though she looks young, there's something ancient about her.“Wait! You're my ancestor?”She chuckles lightly. “Yes I am, I've cared for you Mellisa from the moment you were born. The white wolf chose you for a reason.”“How do you know?” I ask in surprise. I didn't tell her anything about me.“I'v

Mellisa's POV Anger surged in my veins, I peered round the room and saw two other figures apart from the one with a knife to my neck. All of them were completely covered from head to toe like ninjas.“This was so simple. Your guards are pretty easy, little Alpha, we entered with no stress.”“And don't try to act smart, I'd cut you open with this knife.” He noticed my discomfort. “Aiden! Fred!” I got no answer from the mindlink. It feels like there is a wall preventing my voice from reaching them.“Her eyes are glazed over,” the one with the knife tells the others, humor apparent in his voice. My brows furrowed in confusion, they're supposed to be scared.“Well, the thing is you sniffed a bit of Wolf's bane. I was expecting you to be out completely but it seems like you have more resilience than we expected.”I grit my teeth in anger, I can't even shift then it seems.“You don't seem to be happy, Alpha. You know we came for the pendant on your neck but we have a bonus which is your l

Chapter Eighteen

Mellisa's POV “I know you're just pretending to be sick so that he'll give you some attention.” Diana's spiteful voice matches her ugly face.A low growl rumbles in my father's chest at the blatant disrespect. “You insolent child. It'll seem like your father didn't teach you any respect. Get out before I lose my patience.” My father says in annoyance. She shakes with fear, Adam gives her a glare and holds her arm walking out.We burst in a fit of giggles after their exit.Aiden's eyes suddenly glaze over for a while. He heaves a sigh.“You have a visitor, Alpha.” Aiden mutters in contempt. That's unusual, he's never like this.“Who is it?”“That flirt, Magnus.” My heart skips a beat, a large smile pulling on my face.Magnus and I met when his father brought him for an ally agreement in our pack two years ago.His constant flirtation made him extremely annoying to Fred and Aiden who found it disgusting, though they love him.“You know, I don't know how you're good friends with that

Chapter Nineteen

Mellisa's POV We all rushed towards the door, to see who his mate was. It's Diana! Wait, this is so bad and messy.“Aren't you happy to see me mate?” Magnus says, his voice booms round the clinic's hallway. He steps towards her but she steps backwards and puts some distance between them.Magnus’ eyes began to switch from red to normal.“What's going on? Why are you being this way?” He moves towards her so fast and holds her close. “Wait, you smell like another male. You didn't wait for me?”She rolls her eyes and pushes herself off him. “Gosh, I wish I didn't follow you here. You just ruined everything.” An ugly sneer visible on her face.An angry growl rumbles in his chest. He was like a volcano waiting to erupt.“You've mated with another! I'd kill him!”Alphas are known to be very territorial with their mates.“Aiden, get the injection he's going to get out of control.” I screamed out an order.Aiden rushed past us towards the pharmacy at the other end of the hospital.Magnus’ wo

Chapter Twenty

Mellisa's POV “When will they be here?” I asked, feeling better that they are coming to the pack rather than summoning me.“Tomorrow.”“Okay,” I answered simply.I turned my gaze towards Adam and said. “I've given you the heads up, please try to stay away. I have too much on my plate already.”I stood up from my seat and sashayed towards the door completely ignoring Diana.Aiden waits for me to walk past him so I go out first, and then paused by the door with him in tow.“Have a great day.” I murmured and walked out the door.“It seems there's a bit of tension between them.” Aiden said when we had walked out of the old pack house.I gave him a quick glance and said. “She lied to him, Aiden.” “Lied to him about what?” He asked, clearly confused.“He thought her mate had rejected her.” “What! That's outrageous. She is so conniving.” He said a bit upset. “I know right. She had always wanted him and had no limit to how far she could go.”I am not so surprised. I saw the extent to whic
