We ate our food in silence, and I could stop moaning from the delicious taste of the food. Axton would glance at me anytime I did, an amused look on his face. No matter how I tried to stop it, it always ended up escaping my lips whenever I took a new bite.At last we finished eating, and I just sat there, satisfied with the meal. The waiter came again, giving me the same look of admiration as he cleared the table, but I didn't mind him; instead, I was focused on Axton, who looked like he could kill him. “What would you like for dessert?" Axton asked, passing the dessert menu to me.I collected it slowly, a bit confused on what a dessert was. Didn't we just finish eating? He noticed my questioning look and smiled lightly. "It's like sweets and treats, it's usually eaten after every meal, if you like.”I glanced at the menu, and truthfully, it was filled with sweetened dishes. I ordered a cup of ice cream. It has been quite a while since I had one. He ordered the same thing, and soon t

Axel was standing there behind us, dressed in casual clothes, glass in hand. He seemed shocked to see me. He kept glancing from Axton to me and back.“Axel, what are you doing here?” Axton asked at the top of his voice due to the loud music.Axton didn't reply but only stared at me. I sense fear and confusion from him."Hello Axel," I said aloud."Hel... hello," he stammered, stretching an arm for a handshake. I shook it lightly, shaking my head at his reaction. He shook his head lightly, as if getting out of his reverie."You're here?” he asked.“Yea, she is. Why are you here? You should be home with your mate," Axton asked.“Came to get something; I just wanted to get a quick drink," Axel replied. “I was about to leave; you guys have a good night." He dropped the glass on the bar counter, nodded, and turned to leave."Axel!” Axton called. "Are you sure you can drive home? You look over the weather." "I'm fine, but I came here with Ronald; he'll be driving." With that, he turned

My plan was to trace this scent to its owner, and the first place I planned to check was Ember Moon. Even though the intended attackers were lycans, they were assisted by a wolf. Who better knows the area than a wolf that lives around? So whoever this was, I was going to sniff them out when I got to Ember Moon, and if it happens to be one of the members of the pack, then he's as good as dead. But if initially I don't find him, then I'll have to prepare for the unknown.I had told Axton to return to his house back in the city. He was reluctant at first and wanted to hang around to protect me, since it wasn't so safe around. But I had turned him down and pushed for him to leave. I had to do this all alone, and I had to be focused. I put on my garment and started on my way to Ember Moon. It was in the cool evening, and they might not be expecting me, but I would show up anyway and get to business. And after all that, I'll go see Irene. The walk through the forest was slow and quiet, apa

I snapped my eyes open. The cave was bright; warm sun rays peeped through the vines and into the cave. I sat up groggily, rubbing my head. My eyes roamed around. It was morning!I had slept off. I had planned a wake-keep to protect myself from intruders, but I had slept off. I couldn't even remember how or when I did. I sniffed the air to pick out any unfamiliar scent, but there was none, and it didn't seem like anyone had snuck in either. I breathed a sigh of relief. Time to stop playing around. I needed to get this over with.Without wasting time, I walked out of the cave and started the walk to Ember Moon with the piece of fur in my coat pocket. There didn't seem to be any disturbance from humans so far. It was quiet as usual. I stopped by a promontory and stared down at the highway below. Only two company vans and a car passed by. It didn't seem out-of-the-usual busy.I continued to Ember Moon, and after a while, I arrived at the surrounding woods. I brought the fur close to my

I walked back home quietly, sometimes pausing to take in the scenery at intervals. The woods was calm, peaceful even, and the crisp evening air brushed softly against my skin. Birds chirped lightly above me, and the faint rustling of leaves followed my every step. Yet despite how serene everything looked, nothing about today felt calm. Today didn't really work out the way I planned.I found no new information about the lycans, and the traitor wolf wasn't in Ember Moon. Once again, I had come up with nothing. No lead, no progress. Just another dead end. It was frustrating and exasperating to always reach a wall after putting in so much effort. It made me feel like I was chasing shadows. Although there were a few ideas on what I could do, none of them were appealing. Going in search of the wolf in Great Falls was impossible. The city was huge, crawling with humans and laced with layers upon layers of scents. It would take me forever to sift through the overwhelming smell of the entire
