Lahat ng Kabanata ng The Curse of Fated Mates : Kabanata 61 - Kabanata 70

I ordered for immediate protocols to be implemented in the pack, starting that very day I received the news. Members of the pack were to avoid anything that'll take them into town until I figure out what to do about the situation. Humans shouldn't be aware of the existence of werewolves. Never. “It's really serious huh?” I heard Elara say as she came to stand beside me.She looked ethereal in her flowery flowing dress. “It is. No one should leave the pack into town for now,” I explained, looking at the pack members that were shuffling around, trying to put things in place.“I have my men doing what they can to find the person who approached Sofia and find out what they know but we have to be safe first,” I told her with a knowing look. She rolled her eyes mockingly. “Nobody would be going into town, I got it.”“No one. Especially not you. You have your history from when you were in Open Creek, coupled with… this magic that seems to be out of control. You'll just be putting yourself

“I thought you said that Lin barely had any magic,” Sandro said, giving me a look of disapproval. “Was that a lie?”I stammered. “No, well, yes…not exactly. It's not as though she doesn't have powers. Only that she requires a powerful source to draw from, so she can harness their powers.”“She can control it, I assure you,” I told him. Undoubtedly, my plan was risky, it was reckless but no one had a better alternative. Lin’s powers were relatively safe. She had the ability to manipulate the mind. She was a mind faery. She could listen to and manipulate a person's thoughts but she could only do that by siphoning magic from an external source and temporarily using their magic while still in contact with the source. Sandro shook his head in disbelief. “And what source would she harness the magic from? Is there a magic artifact that she can take or what?”I took a deep breath, bracing myself for his reaction. “Yes, there is. Me.”“What does that mean? Sandro asked, his voice a low rumbl

Everything happened so fast. One moment, Lin was doing her magic, the next moment, she was flying out of the room at an insane speed. I didn't wait for her to speak before I started running towards where Sandro's men were waiting for us. “Is it done?” I asked her while we were approaching the car.Lin barely glanced at me and her voice came out in a squeak. “I'm not sure. The magic didn't last long and he sensed that something was going on.”The drive back to the pack was tense. No one said a word. Sandro tried to speak to me via mind link but I told him we were on the way back and put up my mental block.——“You didn't fail me, Elara,” Sandro said as I sobbed into my hands. My shoulder was shaking from the tears. My throat was too clogged to reply so I just sat there,“Hey,” he said, pulling my face out of my hands so I could look at him. “We don't even know if it worked or not. If it didn't, we can try something else. It's no big deal, really,” he said in an attempt to console me.

The rest of us ran towards the sound to find Maria sprawled on the floor some distance away from where we previously were. It seemed like she hit her head with a strong impact from when the earth shook. Sofia was cradling Maria in her arms and I could see the blood seeping into her shirt while Maria panicked.A hand flew to my mouth in shock as I stood watching in horror. This was because of me. “Is she…is she okay?” I asked Sandro who took Maria in his arms. He glanced at me but didn't respond. He called out her name multiple times and even shook her but she remained unresponsive.“Let Dr Brown know we're on the way to the clinic,” Sandro barked at Dante while swooping her up in bridal style and running out. They all rushed out, leaving me shaking in my position with Lin trying to convince me that Maria would be fine.“If anything happens to her. It'll all be my fault,” I whispered to myself, feeling tears well up in my eyes. There was blood, so much blood. Her wolf would struggle

“A dead crow?” I asked agaion, not sure I had heard Sandro the first time. He ran a hand across his face that wore a tired expression. “Yes, Elara. It was a crow. We found it on the ground just below the bathroom window,” he replied in a soft tone. I stayed quiet. “There was no one in the forest, we searched the whole perimeter and still, nothing.”I pulled my legs to my chest, rocking slightly. “I know what I heard. That wasn't a crow, Sandro.”He nodded, taking my hand in his. “I heard it too. But more importantly, the scent I caught wasn't a crow’s,” he shook his head. “I don't know what that was but I assure you, I'll get to the bottom of it.”I took a deep breath, trying to control my body but I was shaking in fear. Between my unstable magic, the trance I was in a few days before and every other thing, an unsolved mystery like this was the last thing I needed.“Hey, you don't have to worry about anything. We'll figure this out. I'm right here and I will protect you with all that
