All Chapters of FALLING FOR HIM: Chapter 21 - Chapter 30

Three days later. It was almost evening. The house was quiet. Too quiet. Not like it had ever been lively, but it felt worse than it had ever been.I moved slowly around the kitchen, trying to balance my weight without putting too much pressure on my sore leg. My wrist still throbbed every time I moved it, wrapped tightly in the bandage Dr. Aldrich had carefully applied days ago. I remembered the way he had looked at me—not with pity, but with something deeper, something I couldn’t quite explain.Something that was still bothering meThree days had passed since the fall.Three days of pain, rest, and loneliness.Three good days that I had not seen him or heard from him.Somehow, I found myself wondering how he was holding up. How things were unfolding between him and his son. Was their relationship improving, or was it still on the rocks? There was not a single day that had gone by without me thinking of him.I limped around the kitchen, my stomach rumbling like tum-tum drums. I was tir

I watched him from the stool by the counter, his movements as graceful as the way he talked. There was something so captivating about the way Dr. Aldrich did even the simplest tasks—like washing the dishes. Or maybe it was just me seeing my own things.I caught myself staring again, wondering what it was about him that kept drawing me in. Was it the calmness in him? His sense of control? But then, why was a man like him—gorgeous, so successful, driven—alone? Why would he choose to be here with me instead of trying to fix his relationship with his son? I was certain that he would die if he knew he was with me.I could not help but think about the way Vincent spoke about his mother. The way he said she had died. No emotion, no sign of pain. And then I just learned that she only died in his mind and in his life—not in reality.I exhaled slowly but sharply, pulling myself out of my reverie. I didn’t think I would ever get the answers that I yearned for—to know the real Dr. Aldrich De’Luka

The smirk vanished from Marylyn's face, replaced by a flicker of anger. Her entourage shifted uncomfortably, the tension palpable. Her hands twitched, but she couldn't even fold them into fists like she wished. Her long artificial nails would tear through her skin if she dared.Without wasting more time unnecessarily than I had already done, I brushed past her, nudging her aside with my shoulder as I walked away. My exterior remained calm, without any negative chills. I left her swimming in the bitter taste of her own dose.Reaching Dr. Aldrich's office, I knocked softly before entering. He was there, shining bright like the morning sun in his baby-blue, three-piece, Italian-made suit. I admired how he remained sharp and calm despite the situation with his son. He was the true definition of a dauntless deity. He looked up from his desk, a warm smile breaking across his face, but the sense of disapproval still lingered. He wanted me to stay home for a few more days, but I just could no

I had just finished fastening the last button on my crisp uniform, ready to get out and meet Chief Rooney, when the door creaked open. The sharp click of heels against the tiled floor almost sent a shiver down my spine. But I held myself, reminding myself that I was not supposed to give in to any fear. I could not render myself as a coward to those vouchers anymore.Turning towards the sound, I collided with Marylyn’s face, her ever-present entourage flanking her sides. Their expressions were a blend of disdain and amusement, a silent testament to their collective contempt. Were they ever going to let me be? What were they here for? To blame me for that shame they brought upon themselves earlier? That is what they were so good at doing.Marylyn's lips curled into a smirk as she stepped closer, her eyes narrowing with a predatory glint. She neared, the other three girls standing guard at her back like they were her bodyguards. She wore a predatory glint as she closed the gap between us b

Curiosity piqued. I wanted to know what happened. Did his father get caught up in something? That would explain why Marylyn was taking advantage of the free time she had before karma caught up with her.I shook my head in response.Chief Rooney sighed, rubbing his temples. “Marylyn's father, Mr. Arnold Harrison, is a significant shareholder in this hospital. He has a vested interest in ensuring his daughter completes her residency and becomes a surgeon. His influence is considerable.”No! I almost screamed that out.The revelation hit me hard. It explained Marylyn's untouchable demeanor and the protection she seemed to enjoy. Her words back in the dressing room. Her friend’s last words…that meant it all.I was nothing but a poor girl with the truth, but I had no one in higher places to back up my truth. He was the connection that the girl talked about. That slapped bitter and raw. And Dr. Aldrich, now more than ever, I could not let him get tangled in that web.He continued, “Both Mr.
