DanteAutumn’s scream woke me up instantly, and I knew that it was her voice the moment I heard it.“Autumn?” I called, but she was evidently not in my room. “When did she leave?” I asked myself as I hurried out of bed. Before I dozed off, Autumn had been right here, sleeping peacefully in my arms, and that was after spending hours last night trying to console her.Never in my entire existence had I ever seen anyone cry nonstop for hours, but Autumn had. I was relieved when she eventually slept off at 3:00a.m, giving me the chance to also doze off even though I had intended to watch over her until dawn.I guess I hadn’t realized how tired I had been from the flight and every other thing that I had had to do all through yesterday. Then she screamed again, and it dawned on me that she was screaming from her own hotel room. I hurried out of my room, and because her room was open, I saw her standing by the door, but I saw the reason she was screaming. Her room had been turned upside down.

Autumn“From the look in your eyes, it seems you want to pick up the call,” Dante said, ending his own call.“Why shouldn’t I pick up his call?” I asked, and Dante groaned in frustration.“Are we going to keep going back and forth? What did I say to you about being discreet?” Dante asked angrily. And before I could respond, he snatched the phone from me, switched it off, and tucked it into his breast pocket.“This is not acceptable,” I stated angrily.“If he cannot reach you, he would stop disturbing you,” Dante said.“Let me have my phone, Dante,” I demanded fiercely. “I am not a child whose gadget you could just seize at will,” I added, my anger increasing.“If you want to fight and argue in front of a stranger, then by all means, do so,” Dante said. And I flushed in embarrassment. He certainly did that on purpose, but then again, I decided not to bother about it right now. He couldn’t keep my phone away from me forever, so I turned the other way and simply stared out through the w

DanteI was just as shocked at the cops’ question as Autumn, but that didn’t stop my heart from aching from her reaction towards me.We all waited for Ulcer to come up with a response.“Um…I was waiting for his daughter, Autumn, to arrive,” he answered.“You called Autumn, who was all the way in Italy, but you couldn’t file a report?” I asked him before Autumn could get over her shock and begin to spill things. As much as I tried to control Autumn for making a mistake, she had proven that she was determined to make the mistake all the same. If only she knew how bad things like this could be, she wouldn’t be so forward and open. Any information, wrongly given, could even affect her, not even her mum; I really didn’t give a shit about her, and my dad.“Like I said, I was waiting for Autumn, but you have been controlling her ever since she got here and preventing me from speaking to her,” Ulcer said, confronting me.He was trying to twist this, and I could see right through his act.“Ta

Autumn“What will and assignment are you talking about?” I asked Ulcer. For the past ten minutes, Ulcer had been dallying around the question, going back and forth, and beating around the bush, and I was beginning to get worried and impatient. The cops might get impatient as well.“And don’t even try to divert this question,” I warned him sternly. He threw a look above my head, his height gaining an advantage.“Ulcer, answer me,” I urged him desperately.“I didn’t know you were coming to come with him,” Ulcer told me.“Who?” I asked, almost confused for a second when I realized that he was referring to Dante. “Oh, him,” I simply said.“Listen, Autumn, his presence here is going to prevent a lot of things, and if you really want to know anything, you have to get rid of him,” Ulcer said deeply. As much as Dante had gotten on my nerves several times, I didn’t think I wanted to “get rid” of him. I couldn’t deny that up until this point, his presence had been very comforting. If it wasn’t

Autumn“Excuse me?” Dante asked, shock written all over his face.“You heard me right, Dante. I don’t want you here, so you need to leave,” I stated firmly. He was the reason Ulcer hadn’t been able to tell me what my dad would have wanted me to know, and Ulcer already said that with Dante’s presence, my dad’s will and “assignment” wouldn’t be told to me. I couldn’t have him ruining things for me any longer. He needed to leave. The funeral was getting closer, and I still hadn’t gotten the flowers I needed to.“Autumn, you don’t know what you are saying,” Dante said, infuriating me even more.“Of course, I do, and I am not a child who you think you can control. This isn’t Italy or your big house where you are the boss,” I told him without stuttering.Dante couldn’t believe what he was hearing, but I was dead serious, and I would do anything remotely possible to get him to leave.Aside the fact that he was stalling things with Ulcer, he was also watching me, and I still couldn’t believe
