Mila's POV…The only upside of the engagement party was seeing my college besties; Meldra and Emily. We were roommates during my college days at Princeton University. But after college, we went our separate ways, with Emily and Meldra returning to their hometown and me returning to New York.We still kept in touch once in a while, but with our different work schedules, our check-ups weren't frequent. Mila’s POV…Sharing a room with Zaden on a stormy night was not in any of the scenarios I laid out perfectly in my head. In fact, the entire evening was not the exact turn of events I expected.“You know among all the things I discovered about you today, the most shocking of them all was finding out you have a pet”.“We found him when he was a pup in the shelter, his mother's previous owner was abusive, and animal control saved them both. My father was always so distant, with only business talks, and we hardly engaged in personal discussions. I was at least close to my stepsister, but even she was now distant.

Mila's POV...A text from Eliza was the highlight of my morning. It was heartbreaking when she didn't check up on me after my suspension and accident, but seeing her text asking for us to meet up over coffee, I felt relieved.I knew there had to be an explanation for her ghosting me. I was so excited to see her again after so long, I couldn't wait a second longer for Zaden to get to the Cafe.The past 24 hours have been a roller coaster of emotions. I definitely saw another side of Zaden that he graciously hid. The past 24 hours showed me that there's more to the arrogant billionaire CEO–Zaden Blackwell. I was so glad we were both able to keep our act together during our stay, at least I know I kept to my side of the contract. Zaden assured me that he was still carrying out an investigation as to who framed me. I honestly couldn't wait until the culprit was caught. I need to get back into the workspace soon, and I need to keep my mind busy so that thoughts of Zaden don't occupy it.

Mila’s POV…I slept better in Zaden's room. It was probably because of the wafted scent of honey and wood that enveloped the sheets. It actually calmed my nausea, and his scent was so addictive. This was until the buzz of Zaden's phone woke me up. He was still in the bathroom as the phone buzzed and buzzed. I stood up to check his phone, maybe it was an emergency for the person to be texting this much.The missed calls were followed by some messages:Zaden I am sorry about the engagement party.Please don't let things end between us.
