Cassia’s Pov I could faintly hear the banging of a door and muffled voices, then— a splash of cold water hit my head. I jolted upright, gasping for breath, my heart racing. I had thought I was drowning, but as my eyes adjusted, I saw familiar faces: Cindy, her friend Lilac, and two soldiers. “I warned you that if you ever came late again, I’d make you regret it. But you went ahead and did much worse.” Cindy’s voice was sharp, her anger palpable.
