Serene's Pov “You.”I stopped dead on my track, barely breathing. He hadn't changed much. He still had the same cruel eyes, the same angry face.I made my voice meek and quiet. “Hello, Master.” I bowed my head, eyes diverted from his. I hadn't expected close proximity to him and despite the fact that Agnar had allied my fears of being discovered, my heart still pounded heavily.“Your sister has disappeared from the dungeon.”I gasped at the news and forced tears into my eyes as I looked up and fell to my knees.“No. Please, Master, find he—”The slap came without warning and I saw stars.“Get up.” He pulled me roughly by my hair and jerked me back up. “Your family is gone, too. I stood beside the bed, hands clasped in front of me, watching silently. This was the fourth doctor Roman had brought in to check on the mother of his unborn child.Something in me smiled at the stark desperate look on his face. SERENE'S POV Within moments, the heavy oak door burst open and some of the guards stormed in, weapons half-drawn.“What in the hell is going on here?!” the lead guard, a burly man with a scarred face, roared.I didn't stop shaking as I replied, pointing to the almost lifeless girl on the floor. “A-a-alpha R-r-roman stabbed her.”A stunned silence fell, broken only by my ragged breathing. Then, the scarred guard's face darkened, his voice a low growl. “What?! Are you insane, girl?! How dare you utter such an outrageous lie?! Alpha!” he bellowed, turning towards Roman. But the Alpha was a silent, unmoving lump in the corner, his head buried in his hands, rocking back and forth like a man possessed.“Alpha!” the guard called again but got no response still.Another guard rushed to the dying girl. “Who did this to you?
