Deborah’s POVI don't know what I was hoping for. Maybe I was hoping for the ground to open up and swallow me whole. Or maybe I was hoping I had confirmed that Caleb was alone before I baring my heart to him and telling him my secret. Or maybe I was hoping for Caleb to stand up for me and stop Olivia. But as I looked at Caleb, then at Olivia, then at all the students that had gathered around me, pointing fingers at me and laughing at me, I felt my face wet. I touched my face and realised I was really shedding some tears and that gave Olivia all the satisfaction she needed. Unable to stand there anymore, I ran out of Caleb's dorm, absolutely embarrassed. As I pass through the hallway, several of the students laugh loudly at me. “What's going on, Debby? You're trending on Olivia's insta,” Charlotte, my best friend, mouthed to me as she saw me with an apologetic look on her face. I couldn't answer her nor could I return to my room to cry in peace as Olivia had said. Everywhere I turne

Deborah’s POV “They are just eyes and I have two of them like everyone else,” I said plainly, wondering what exactly he was playing at. “Come on, Deborah. I was flirting with you,” Liam said, with a roll of his eyes. “You see, this is why I need help,” I groaned in frustration. The fact that I did not realise Liam was flirting with me, meant it might have been possible that Caleb had flirted with me in the past and I did not know, “Oh my God. I'm a hopeless case,” I groaned, feeling sorry for myself. “Why couldn't I see what you were doing?” I asked as I moved back to my bed to sit. “You just have to be open to signals. Don't be Deborah the ignorer,” Liam said with a small smile. I realise this wasn't the first time Liam had called me Deborah the ignorer. “Did I ignore you?” I asked, trying to figure out the reason behind the nickname. Liam looked like he wanted to say something, but was holding himself back. “Why would you care if I ignored you?” I asked again, wondering if he

Third person POV Intentionally avoiding the area Olivia was, Deborah looked around one more time, hoping to catch Caleb again. She pushed up her glasses nervously, her eyes scanning the crowd, searching each face with quiet desperation. Her heartbeat drummed in her ears, loud and hollow. Her palms were clammy, and she kept smoothing them over the sides of her dress. Somewhere in the distance, someone dropped a glass, the crash swallowed by the bass of the music. Then the speaker came on, the loud static sound jolting Deborah, as well as others around her. The screech echoed through the room like a scream, causing heads to snap toward the DJ booth. A murmur rolled through the crowd like the start of a wave. Deborah’s eyes shot up to the stage, her brows knitting in confusion. Her heart skipped a beat and her throat became dry again as she saw Olivia and her minions. Each of them stood with mocking grins, big-rimmed glasses perched exaggeratedly on their noses, their cheerl

Deborah’s POV Just before Liam's lips touched mine, I broke down in tears again. My breath hitched, and the tension that had been humming in the air crumbled into a flood of emotion.“And the worst part is, I didn't even get a chance to talk to Caleb,” I said, my voice catching as I buried my face in my hands. My face turned red again, not just from embarrassment, but from the heat of holding back so many feelings for too long.It seemed like my words and fresh outbursts surprised Liam and had him moving back to his normal sitting position. His chair squeaked softly against the floor, and the closeness we shared just moments ago felt like it had vanished into thin air.“You know there's a chance that Caleb might not be into you, no matter what you do,” he said, sighing deeply. His voice was quieter now, the edges of his confidence softening as he looked down at his hands.I sighed deeply, too, the sound escaping me like air out of a balloon. A tight pressure spread across my chest, a

Deborah's POV “Oh my God! Debby, you are trending,” Charlotte exclaimed as soon as she saw me, a slight frown appearing in her face. Her hand extended toward me, the bright screen of her phone glowing in the light of the hallway.I leaned in hesitantly, the cold edges of the phone brushing against my arm as she held it closer. On the screen, the video thumbnail alone was enough to make my stomach twist. My face, with a stainless steel bowl on my head and two dildos on each side of the bowl and my cardigan, and the rest of my body murky with milkshake which looked a lot like sperm and the crowd behind me—it was all there.I winced slightly as I noticed it had already gained more than a million views all within forty-eight hours. The red view count blinked up at me like an accusation–I hadn't even been aware that Olivia was filming me while she and her minions had humiliated me.The air felt warmer suddenly, and a slow flush crept up my neck. I could hear the faint buzz of conversation
