Ethan's POVI remained seated in the same spot while everyone else left. Only Liam and Elowen remained. "You should go, Elowen. The council meeting is over," I told her, not bothering to glance in her direction."You don't get to dismiss me or tell me what to do, Ethan," she retorted, sounding displeased. I didn't need to see her face to know she was scowling at me right now. "I know you're going to look for a cure to keep Merlin alive. So I want to help since I'm basically the reason all this happened in the first place.""Don't go blaming yourself now, pumpkin. Merlin already had it coming for her," I replied, unable to help the frown that formed on my face and Liam snorted. "But it doesn't erase the fact that all this happened in the first place because she was too weak to fight off a compulsion from someone like Merlin and her other weak ass classmates.""Liam!" I growled, glaring at him."It's fine," Elowen placed her hands on my shoulders, trying to calm me down. "As much as

Elowen's POV"Alright, I get that we have to save Merlin from the cold hands of death even though I'd rather watch her die a painful death," Riley began, a scowl on her face. "What I don't understand is why we have to do it with him?" She completed, her scowl directed at Adrian who simply ignored her. I still can't really understand why these two seem to despise each other so much. It's like there's an unspoken history between them that makes the atmosphere heated whenever they are in the same space."Look, the last thing I want to deal with right now is your adolescent tantrums," Imelda glared at them, looking irritated and every bit annoyed by their childishness. Well, I wouldn't blame her. I also wouldn't want to deal with this if I was in her shoes. "It's either you both swallow whatever issues we have till we are done with saving Merlin or I promise you, Merlin won't be the only one needing saving," she threatened and I think the room's temperature dropped drastically because

Elowen's POV"I can explain," I repeated, Adrian and Riley still gawking at me wide eyed while Merlin just watched us weakly, looking confused. "Merlin!" Elder Zayn yelled, barging into the room. "Dad," Merlin muttered weakly. Zayn paused in his tracks, his eyes glistening in tears as he saw her awake and the bite mark gone. "My baby," he rushed to her side, pulling her into his arms as they both cried in each other's embrace."We should go now!" Imelda muttered to me and I nodded at Adrian who did not bother arguing and simply went along. Seeing the vampire guards filtering into the room, I guess he could tell leaving while we still can was the best thing to do right now. While daughter and father cried their eyes out, we silently slipped out of the room, careful not to draw attention to ourselves. We almost made it out of the house when two vampire guards suddenly blocked our paths, their faces not friendly. "Uhmm, excuse me, we need to leave," Imelda frowned, stepping forward

Liam's POVMy bone cracked under Ethan's grip. His eyes are cold, calculating and ready to go for the kill. I could make one quick move and kill Adrian in one breath before he reacted but I already saw everything play out in my head. Fooling Ethan won't be so easy. He knew me better than anyone else and would be expecting me to attack. I'm certain the asshole knew exactly where I would attack first."What makes you think I won't kill him the next second I get?" I asked, snatching my wrist from his grip."You kill him and you have me to answer to, Liam," Ethan simply replied, leveling his glare with mine, his eyes a different shade. I frowned, backing down. That isn't Ethan talking. He allowed the bastard fucking take over. Unlike Ethan, Ian would never hold back from killing me. I saw the dangerous glint in his eyes, one I always saw when Ian took over the body. If I had my chance I would kill the bastard by now and I'm sure he'll do the same because we both despise each other. We

ELOWEN "Unless you have plans on infuriating Principal Denver further by missing classes, you better wake up and prepare for your classes." Riley shook me awake, her perky little voice interrupting my beauty sleep. "Leave me alone, Riley," I huffed in annoyance, covering my head with my duvet as I tried to go back to sleep. "Besides getting on Principal Denver's bad side, there's also the issue of Imelda. She won't tolerate you missing classes and I'm sure the last thing you want is her storming into your dorm and ruining your day," Riley added, moving around the room noisily as she tried to get ready for classes.I finally tore my eyes open, flinging the duvet away and wincing in pain. After yesterday's drink with Riley, I think I'm going to die. I wonder how she is so unaffected right now when she drank far more than I did."You should be having hangover from yesterday's drink. Here take this." She pushed a hot bowl of porridge into my hands, surprising me. "After emptying the b
