Renz’s POVThe morning light slipped through the curtains, warm and golden, falling across her skin. Nyx lay tangled in the sheets, her breathing slow and deep. I stayed there for a while, just watching her. She looked peaceful.I moved carefully, trying not to wake her. When I slid out of bed, she shifted a little, frowning in her sleep, and hugged the pillow I’d left in my place. It made me grin like an idiot. There was something strangely peaceful about her like that. No fire, no glare, none of that fierce energy she carried on the track. Just... calm.I leaned against the wall for a second, arms crossed, watching her breathe. Racing must’ve drained her last night. The way she raced on that track kept replaying in my head — that wild spark in her eyes when she won. Damn, it was something.“She looks so ugly,” I murmured watching her, but my smile gave me away.I turned and headed for the shower, letting the cold water hit my skin. It woke me up, but it didn’t wash away the thoughts.
