Amelia’s POVI hadn’t seen Kelvin in almost two days.At first, I told myself it wasn’t unusual, I mean, even Ruby had confirmed so. He was moody sometimes, always brooding or slipping away into quiet corners when he needed air. Ruby said it was just how he was wired and I decided to trust her. Come to think of it, we had only met because he was avoiding work anyways. But this time, it felt different.I noticed it that morning when I went by his room. The bed was neatly made, and the closet doors were cracked open. Inside, his clothes hung untouched, still lined in their usual perfect rows. His duffel bag, though, was gone. The thought of him leaving without telling me or anybody else made my stomach tighten so hard, I thought I’d puke. I wondered what he was up to, if he had gotten himself in any troubleBy noon, I was pacing in my office, my phone in my hand, trying his line for what must’ve been the tenth time. It rang, went to voicemail, and I clenched my jaw until it ached.Ruby
