Riven. It was morning and I was already in the bathroom. I had barely slept last night, and I was already up for class. That damn class! Teaching the same thing over and over again. Yet they wouldn't let me skip it. Skip it, and I’d be tagged as defiant.I'm talking about history classes. I have been taught history from the womb. I could narrate every piece of history in the land of wolves. But I still had to go. No matter what. The bathroom was filled with steam as water trickled down my body. I breathed. Finally, some peace. It’s safe to say that the only place I get peace and quiet these days is in the bathroom. Then I heard it.The heavy bang on the door of the living room. Must be that jerk, Sky. Maybe he was just leaving now. That would be better. Seeing his face in the morning would only bring me ill luck. Then, before I could even finish thinking about it, another bang. But this time it wasn't in the living room, it was in here, in my room.“Riven!” The voice cut through the s

Stiles. This morning, when I had just gotten to school and seen that scenario, Riven's attention was needed. Because, you know, the Alpha had to see whatever had happened on the school premises. So I tried to mind-link him, to inform him of what was going on, but then I received that same blank side from him.No response. Just empty. I tried a couple more times. Still the same. That was the reason why I went to his suite. The whole thing with the mind-link lately had not really given me any concern because, I mean, I knew Riven. He could zone out one moment and the next, he was back. I didn't really put my mind into it. But now?I had been with Riven all my life. I knew him and I kind of… I wouldn't say totally, but I knew his father.Alpha Blackthorn had never mind-linked his children. He would never. Ever since I knew Riven, he had always talked about how strict his father was with mind-link. And even his beta, my father, had attested to that.Alpha Blackthorn would only mind-link t

Sky.The cold night air hit my skin the moment I stepped out of that hall. But it did almost nothing to my skin. Not because of the hoodie. No, it was the words from those old hags. Those sharp, cold words that I was already used to hearing every time. But this time, they dropped like knives, slicing deep into the last layer of my skin.I pulled the hood back over my head and covered my face again, even though I knew no one would see me. I guess it was just… habit. To always hide your identity. Always protect your identity. That was what they taught me from the very first day.“You must not let the world know you. You must not let the world see you. Only your target should see you, and even then, they should only see you for the last seconds of their life. Just before they die.”That line echoed in my head as I walked down the empty path. Those cold-blooded men had praised me. They had clapped me on the back with their dark words. But those praises meant nothing to me. I knew the trut

Riven“Good.” Elder Xavier continued. “Then you should also be aware that those incidents involved the death of two persons who unfortunately were members of this council. Yes?” He gestured his hand in a circular motion.I nodded. “Yes.”“Good. Now, young Alpha, do you think that those deaths are normal?” He asked, pushing himself forward to lean on the table with a more serious face. The question hung in the air. I shook my head slowly. “No. It’s not.”Everyone at the table nodded in agreement. “Good,” Elder Maggie interrupted, folding her hands against her chest. “Like you said, young Alpha, it is not. We have studied it, we have asked questions, and we have searched. Those… were no ordinary killings. Something is wrong.”I felt a cold shiver crawl up my spine. Can these old people just tell me why I was here already before they killed me with anticipation and suspense? “Ok…, so how do I come in, in all of this?” I asked, making sure to be as polite as possible. The elders exchanged

RivenFuck! It was morning already. The bus! I remembered. I looked at the time. Shit! I had overslept. “What the fuck,” I cursed. How can I— I didn't even— “Oh my moon.” I jumped out of the bed, straight to the bathroom. What was I thinking sleeping like that?In a few minutes I was done. Gosh, why would I sleep like that? I had totally forgotten that I was supposed to go for the bus this morning. Crazy. But I don’t even blame my body. I had been stressed beyond measure and I could assure anyone that the stress I had been going through lately was nothing meant for a 24-year-old’s body. Too young for the kind of stress I was going through. In a few minutes I was already on my way out. Sky was not there. The motherfucker didn't even think that he should have—No, I am actually grateful that he didn't. Each to their own. I love how he minds his business in this house.By the time I got to the bus, I was already half panting from rushing so much. Everyone was there already and they were
