21- Fooled? Maybe

Diane's threat to spend the night on Nathan's bed tugged at his annoyance more than it should have. There was no way she had slept with the man he used to refer to as his best friend. He and Nathan did not have a big fight or anything of that sort. They just slowly drifted apart in the last two years. He forced the thought away. What did it matter to him? She was free to sleep with whoever she wanted. Nathan included."Shall we head over to your private residence first or stop at the family quarters?" Bernard asked as he halted at the road that led to the family quarters.Michael's attention snapped to Bernard, and he adjusted in his seat, looking at the road in front of him.Caesar had asked him over for dinner after not having seen him for close to a month, even though they all lived in the same estate. He disliked going to the family quarters, mostly because he couldn't stand his own father. Ethan was bearable, he came in handy when needed. And one more person who annoyed him also

22- First blow

"I'm sorry about Crown and Bell's, Ma'am. The information must have leaked after the last meeting with the director. Diane looked down from her new office window on the top floor of the building, watching cars halt in traffic on the road below. "That's not your fault." She replied, turning around and coming back to occupy her seat. "Belmont won't see what's coming to hit them.""What do I need to do next?" Ryan asked. Diane slid out a piece of paper and handed it over to Ryan. "Here. Release this anonymously to the press. That's the first step. And if Belmont thinks I'm going to go easy on him, he's being delusional."She rested into her seat and smiled. "After this is released, we'll go to the next step," Diane replied. "The Luxe Division is so easy to sabotage, and since I used to be the head there, I know this plan is definitely going to work perfectly."But that wasn't all the truth. Luxe Division had also been their thing. The thing they had both shared ideas for and he had cr

23- Paparrazi

Diane posed with a hand on Nathan's chin as the paparazzi she hired took pictures of the two of them in the restaurant. Nathan brought her face closer, cupping it in his hands and rested his forehead on hers. "I hope we look good from this angle." She giggled, staring into his eyes. He smiled back at her, "I mean, you aren't paying them good money to make us look bad." His hand moved down to her neck, and he formed a necklace with it, his fingers wrapping around the side. He pulled her face closer and then planted a kiss on her lips. Diane's eyes widened in surprise, and she blinked twice at him while he smiled. "I've been meaning to do that ever since I saw you again. I'm sorry." She shook her head, laughing. "No, it would make this even more entertaining." She took his mouth in hers and shut her eyes, deepening the kiss. Her hand went to his hair and her fingers combed through it. She nibbled at his lower lips, allowing herself to feel every warmth the kiss came with an

24- Messy desk

Michael turned on his heel for the umpteenth time as he slowly paced around his office, counting his steps one at a time. His usually tidy desk was a mess of files, papers, and cups of coffee he had stayed up with the night before. His usually styled hair was ruffled up from constantly running his fingers through it. He chewed at his inner cheek, as if trying to push his frustration into it. 'I love you, Michael', 'Don't you trust me?', 'I'm pregnant, Michael'. Memories of Diane pleading and crying rushed into his head once more, and he could almost hear her voices as she stressed that she was being framed. He pictured the hurt in her eyes when he had accused her and when he had fired her. "Fuck," He cursed, burying his face in his hands. He didn't know what to believe any longer. Or rather, he knew what to believe, but he was choosing not to do so yet. He had sent Bernard to compare the two images, the ones Diane had been in and the one that had been addressed to Tiffany.

25- Dday

"We have acquired all the public shares and most of the investors' shares, which means we own 40% of the Luxe Division. Belmont Group still owns 55%, once the remaining 5% accept our offer, proposing a premium acquisition to Belmont would be possible. And selling to us would be more profitable for them." Ryan stated as Diane swiped through the tablet, studying the report. "Has the Shell company been established?" She asked, peering at him. He reached down and swiped the tablet screen to the next page. "Yes, Ma'am. This is it."Diane schemed through it, nodding in satisfaction. "Silvergate Capital. That is a perfect name."She took a huge breath, then smiled, pushing the tablet away and resting into her chair, swaying it side to side. "Have the M&A director ready and one person from the firm. They will negotiate with Belmont and buy Luxe Division under Silvergate Capital.""Yes, Ma'am. I will take care of that." Ryan replied with a smile. Then Diane dismissed him. She spun her chai

26- "Us"

The silence hung in the air like a pungent smell, and the division presidents exchanged uneasy glances, shifting uncomfortably in their leather seats.Of course they recognised her, she had been everywhere in the media for the past weeks. And apart from the fact that they knew who she was, Deveraux and Belmont had always been those two companies who always claimed they were competing fairly or in their exact words, 'Healthy Rivals'. In the years that had passed, they were quick to send invitations to each other and parcels when deemed fit, such as during the holidays. But it was all a cover. Belmont played dirty behind the scenes, and Deveraux was quick to get their lick back. But this? This was the first time ever that Deveraux had come head-on to openly buy a stake in Belmont, so, of course, it was a surprise to the division presidents. And maybe Michael, if he was oblivious to the real reason why she was acting this way. Diane's attention was fixed on Michael, studying him as t

27- Hear me out

Diane stared at him, concealing her surprise perfectly with ease. Two and a half whole years. That was what it had taken for Michael to find out she was being honest that day. That she had never cheated on him, that she had been framed. She searched his face carefully. For regret? Guilt?Sadness, if she dared say? But none were there. None she noticed, rather. A laugh escaped her lips as she suddenly found the situation amusing. She wondered how he even found out to start with. This wasn't what she planned when she got here. She bought a small stake in his company, and she had expected him to be surprised and caught off guard. But here he was, not acting like any of that drama had occurred and instead telling her this. "It's too late for that, Mr Belmont. I have no interest in this conversation, and I stopped caring long ago." She replied, eyeing him and taking her purse from the table. Michael grabbed her hand. "Just hear me out, Diane."She snatched her hand away from him,

28- On a date!

"Who the f*ck does Michael Belmont think he is?" Diane muttered loudly, slamming a clenched fist on her table and making the pen holder on her table move position Two whole days had passed since then, but each time she tried to work, Michael's face and words always found their way into her mind. She hated that he had started to occupy her thoughts rent-free. How dare he think he was one to come up to her and think she would still quiver in front of him and answer to all his questions as he liked?Ryan jerked up, startling at the loud sound and watching Diane's eyes cloud with rage. He had only come to submit the invitation for the upcoming Island Cooperation Fest. But instead she had just screamed this question at him and banged her hand on the table, making him the unfortunate audience that was present to witness her fury. "That Michael Belmont. How dare he?" She turned to Ryan. "He's getting on my nerves."Ryan cleared his throat uncomfortably. Michael had been an arch-enemy to h

29- Five minutes

"What?" Diane asked back. "Unless you want to entertain everyone in here, we can just have our talk somewhere more..." He stopped to glance at Nathan before continuing. "Private.""Mr Belmo-" "Diane it's fine," Nathan said, standing up. "You know he's stubborn and won't stop. Give him five minutes alone. And we can enjoy the rest of the afternoon to ourselves."I wasn't asking for your permission." Michael snapped at Nathan for the second time, his eyes never leaving Diane. Nathan's presence annoyed him. He wondered who Nathan thought he was, to come between them and throw his talk into their conversation when he wanted. True, he hadn't seen Nathan since the night of the charity event, which was the day they had started to grow apart. And the feeling of seeing him now wasn't different from that night when he had walked out on him. Diane pulled her hand away from Michael, eyeing him. Then looked to Nathan, who gave her a reassuring nod, telling her it was okay to go. Then she snatc

30- Pilates

It was Sunday morning, and Diane woke up, feeling Nathan's arm curled around her from behind. She could feel him breathing gently on her neck, which made her realise he was still asleep. After Michael had crashed their date the day before, they had ended up just eating and leaving the lounge early. Then Nathan had suggested them going to the bar, which they did. And the rest was history. The history being waking up naked in his bed. She sighed, taking his arm off and getting up quietly from the bed. "Leaving me again?" Nathan asked with his groggy voice as he stared at her lazily while she dressed up. "I didn't know you were awake. Was trying to let you sleep longer." "Okay, so you wanted to leave before I woke up, that is?" He asked. Diane pursed her lips at him, "You know that's not what I mean."Nathan gave a low laugh, "I'm teasing you.""I've got a few appointments today," She continued, pulling her dress over her head. "I've got Pilates classes at eight thirty. And then s
