FALLING FOR THE ALPHA'S SHADOW のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 21 - チャプター 30

Seren’s POV"My stomach might actually eat itself if we don't get food soon," I muttered, hearing it grumble loud enough to rattle the SUV.I had given Dorian one of my cards earlier, letting him and Pax pick out what they needed from the grocery store. I trusted Dorian; he wasn't the type to splurge—at least not without checking with me first.Kairos pulled into a tiny, red-bricked building with a nearly empty parking lot. It was oddly quiet, and the only thing that marked the place was a simple sign near the entrance: Under the Full Moon.I raised an eyebrow. "Is this the part where you murder me in the woods and no one finds the body?"Kairos blinked at me like I'd grown two heads."What? No! I swear it's good!"I smirked, tapping my nose twice."Relax. I can handle myself if you try anything." I swung the door open and hopped out, catching his soft laugh as he followed. We met at the front of the SUV, and Kairos leaned down, his voice dropping to a whisper."If I were planning any

Seren’s POV"You really didn’t have to do that, you know," Jeremy said, his voice full of warmth as he watched me drying my hands."I couldn’t just leave the mess behind," I smiled, tossing the towel over my shoulder. "You cooked. This was the least I could do."Jeremy glanced sideways at Kairos, giving him a look that made Kairos roll his eyes and clear his throat. It was obvious they were having one of those silent man-to-man conversations I was definitely not invited to."Everything alright over there?" I asked, raising an eyebrow."Yeah," Kairos said a little too quickly. "But we should get moving."I nodded, giving Jeremy a quick wave."It was great meeting you. Seriously, that meal was unforgettable.""Come back anytime," Jeremy chuckled. Then, grinning at Kairos, he added, "And don't let this one boss you around too much." He gave Kairos a playful punch in the arm."Oh, don't worry. I can handle him," I said with a laugh, earning a low growl from Kairos as he ushered me out of t

Seren’s POVThe low hum of tension settled between us as we drove. Kairos’s hand rested on my thigh—comforting, yet it made my mind race. I’d always prided myself on being able to ignore the opinions of others. But with Kairos, it felt different. I didn’t want him to think I was here for any ulterior motive, least of all, for the position in his pack, or for the role of Luna. I didn’t come to be his mate. I came to work. Dorian was just friends with his son, and I had no intention of interfering with their relationship. But sometimes, it’s hard to ignore the whispers, even if they’re about me.“Just ignore them, Seren,” Lily growled in my head, but I wasn’t sure it was that simple.“I know,” I muttered, but it didn’t stop the little ache of worry.“I don’t care what they say,” Lily added. “You’re strong. And if Kairos can’t see that, then to hell with him. You’ve earned everything you have. You work harder than anyone.”I couldn’t help but smile at her words, feeling her protectivenes

SerenI couldn’t help but feel the weight of the moment as Kairos and I unloaded the SUV. The sun was starting to dip behind the trees, casting long shadows across the ground. This was my sanctuary, my place of peace. And despite the chaos and noise from the world, the quiet here felt like a balm on my restless soul.Kairos had already started carrying in the bags when I took in the air around me. It always smelled so different here—fresh, untouched. The weight of my responsibilities felt lighter. My anxiety that had been gnawing at me for weeks, even months, seemed to fade just a little in this space."Can you get the door?" Kairos called, already halfway to the front entrance, a bag hanging from each arm.I held up my keys. "You have them," I said, half-annoyed, half-amused. I was ready to joke, but before I could get the words out, he tossed the keys to me with a casual flick of his wrist."Always keeping you on your toes," he said, a glint of mischief in his eyes.I barely caught

Kairos’s POVThe first rays of dawn crept through the cabin windows, and I knew sleep was not going to find me again. Seren and I had stayed up late talking—more like, I’d listened to her speak, captivated by the way she shared her thoughts with such ease. She was the kind of woman who could make even the mundane seem magical, and damn if I didn’t want to hear more. I wanted her close, but for now, I settled for the memory of her voice in the quiet of the cabin.I rolled out of bed and quietly padded over to the window. Seren hadn’t stirred yet, which meant it was still early. The sun had barely kissed the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink.I needed to run. To burn off the energy, to clear my head, and to focus on the future. The moment I stepped out the door, the cool morning air hit me, and I couldn’t help but smile. This was the kind of peace I needed—the kind that felt like home. The forest was still waking up as I jogged down the path behind the cabin, the quie
