Seren’s POV“Kairos, something is wrong with the sky,” Rowan said, and the fear in his voice made my heart twist. The sky kept changing.Even after the sigil faded, the clouds stayed streaked with thin blue veins, like lightning frozen in place. The wolves around us whispered as they drifted back from the ridge, casting nervous glances at me.Kairos stayed beside me, rigid and alert, one hand hovering near my back as if he expected me to fall. Truthfully, he wasn’t wrong. My legs shook under me. The silver mark under my skin throbbed with each breath, pushing harder, as if trying to burst out.“Kairos,” I whispered, “it hurts.”That was all he needed. He wrapped an arm around me, steady but gentle. “We’re taking you inside. Now.”Mara stepped forward. “She should be examined by the healers.”“No,” Kairos snapped before she finished. The elder’s eyes narrowed. “Alpha—”“Not healers. Not anyone except the ones I trust.”“And who would that be?” Javen asked.Kairos’s gaze never left me.
