Chapter 041

Mila“Put me down! You asshole!” I kicked and resisted, trying to break free from the tight grip on my waist.“Sorry, Mila. I can't go against Il Don’s orders.”“Go to hell, you and your Don!” I shouted.“Watch your mouth, young lady, or your head will be split from your body in a blink!” he warned, placing me on the ground in front of his car.As he reached into his pocket for his car keys, I flung off my high heels, lifted the hem of my wedding dress, and bolted back toward the hotel hall.“Never turn your back, dear Julio,” I shouted as I disappeared into the chaos of people pushing through the hotel’s main entrance.“Fuck, Mila! I’m a dead man now!” I heard his voice as I dove inside, straight into the mess of women running the opposite way—screaming and crying in horror. This was my opportunity to stand up for myself. If a man insulted me four years ago and got away with it, I wouldn’t let Lorenzo get away with what he did to me earlier. It seemed I had darkness inside me after a

Chapter 042

LucaI tightened my grip on the motorcycle handlebars as I sped after the crimson red Aston Martin Vantage with gold flake finish. What the fck is wrong with her?I couldn't understand what got into her. Why was she acting not like herself? How dare she ride in a car with a complete stranger and disobey my orders?"This is an ugly feeling to be disobeyed, isn’t it?" my inner voice mocked me.The fck, I never imagined her holding a gun, let alone shooting—and not just shooting, she shot Lorenzo. I think women would prefer to stay silent instead of risking it and shooting a cold-blooded mafia heir like Lorenzo."Maybe she shot Lorenzo in front of everyone and risked her life, but the girl challenged you, Il Don, and left with a stranger, leaving you behind. And here you are, chasing after her like an obedient dog that needs his owner," the fcking voice in my head sniffed."Fck, Mila. Fck, fck, fck," I roared in fury and hit the gas, hearing the loud horns from the vehicles around me as

Chapter 043

MilaNow I was sitting alone in this cozy, welcoming cottage. I started to feel regret about shooting Lorenzo. It wasn’t that he didn’t deserve it—he absolutely did—but it would cost the Haydens so much.Once we arrived here, Luca called his brothers. They told him the situation was tense, and he had to go back immediately. I stayed here alone. This cottage was nothing like Luca. It was warm, cozy, and inviting, while Luca was cold, ruthless, and distant.I lay down on the couch and dialed Mama’s phone. I had to talk to Angelo. She must be at the mansion now.“Mila, darling. Where are you? Luca refused to tell us where he took you,” she asked once she picked up the call.“Don’t worry, Mama. I’m fine. Are you with Angelo?” I asked, kicking off my high heels.“Yes, darling. I’ll let you talk with him now, but first tell me you’re okay.” Her voice was full of genuine concern. I never doubted her. She had always been my mother, no matter what the truth said.“I’m fine, I promise.” I pause

Chapter 044

LucaThe moment I saw her standing there—in the middle of the room I always ran to whenever I felt sick of this filthy world—my heart skipped a beat. All I could think about was that she now knew the truth. That I was nothing but a pathetic stalker who had been obsessed with her for ages. The mere thought of it made me panic even more.Good job, Luca. How the hell did you forget to lock the damn door? Now she doesn’t just hate you—she’s probably terrified of you, the voice in my head scolded me.The look on her face when she turned around and her eyes fell on me said everything.“Lemme explain,” I whispered, uncertain. She accused me of stalking her, and I hated to admit—how much this felt like the action of a sick, psychotic freak—it was true.I had stalked her. Every damn day of my life. And yeah, it sounded sick.“I’m obsessed with you, Mila.” My voice pleaded.God, this was painful for a man like me.I never begged. And yet, here I was—begging. Unwillingly.I couldn’t tolerate the

Chapter 045

Would I be exaggerating if I said this was the most peaceful night I’ve had in my entire life?Even though my world was burning, the war with the Castellano family was at its peak… here I was, lying in bed, holding my Mila as if she was all that mattered in life. She beat me.I confess that.“I don't love controlling men, do you know that?”“Who asked you for love, kitten,” I whispered as I squeezed her body closer to mine. Her back was small against my chest. “Sleep. Now.”“Stop that!” she demanded.“Stop what?”“I hate when men control women,” she challenged, turning her face toward me.I raised a brow. “Good. I don’t control women,” I whispered, licking her earlobe. “I just control my woman.”Then I pulled her further toward me.“Sleep, my girl, or I don’t guarantee if my cock slips somewhere inside you,” I teased. It was already dawn, and we had fcked all night. This was the first time I’d ever felt my body exhausted and still desired more at the same time.---In the morning.I w

Chapter 046

I could sense her anxiety in bringing this matter up. Maybe it was purely selfish of me. And it was—indeed. But I had to know.We were sitting on the bed in the bedroom. I held her hands to assure her. They were so cold, freezing. And as she looked up at me with an unfocused gaze, I knew she wasn’t looking at me anymore. She had already entered a dark area in her head. And it seemed like a very deep hole—I didn’t realize back then that it would drag us both down into it.“Her name was Liana. She was the only friend I had… or I thought I had,” she said, her voice as cold as ice.I didn’t think she would tell the same story again—that girl’s story she had repeated over and over. I thought she would finally open up and tell the truth. I was so disappointed.I opened my mouth to tell her I wanted the truth and nothing but the truth. That I’d already forgiven her, no matter what she had to say in the true story, but her next words stopped me.“She urged me to have sex, telling me I was mis

Chapter 047

I think she messed things up because she heard the name frequently, and it must’ve been similar in pronunciation to that name.I pushed the thought away and kept listening to her, a pain in my heart for letting her suffer alone all this time.“Every touch was a torture. I was so innocent—I used to change the channel if a kiss scene played on screen while anyone was around. That broke me deeply, Luca. Broke me, and I couldn’t be the same anymore.”She looked up at the ceiling, preventing another wave of tears from falling.“What makes me hate myself—and the worst part of all of this…” she paused, then added with a sniff, “or maybe the best part… is that the drug took control of me, so I didn’t resist my rapist.”Why did every word she say feel like I had lived it?The scene of the begging man… it felt familiar.“Then they called Papa and told him they had destroyed me, that they tainted the Haydens with shame. The video spread like fire, but thanks to Papa, he took it down.”She sighed

Chapter 048

She followed behind me as I walked into the mansion. Our family was eating their dinner. Once they saw us, their eyes trailed between us. I could see them examining the clothes Mila was wearing. I bet every one of them realized what happened between us. And I didn’t give a fck.Fck them all. They must’ve noticed my bad demeanor because none of them said a word.“Mommy, you’re back!” Angelo exclaimed, jumping out of his seat and running toward her, clinging to her legs. She bent down and kissed him. “Hey, little body. I missed you,” she said tenderly.“I missed you too, Mommy! I missed you that much,” he replied happily, stretching his arms as wide as he could.I just stood there, staring at them. Watching the mother-son exchange. He’s my son.Son.As if he sensed my gaze, Angelo turned and looked up at me. He took small steps forward, lifted his head, and asked, “Did you and my mom get married?”“Yeah, Luca. Tell the little boy,” Ricardo said, his voice full of resentment.Did he know

Chapter 049

"What’s that?" Ricardo asked, swallowing his saliva."A DNA test confirming that I’m Angelo’s father," I replied, my eyes sparking fire. They exchanged dark glares. I tossed the paper into my pocket and sniffed. The bitter taste in my heart got the better of me. Then, with all the rage exploding in my veins, I punched Marco in the face. He stumbled back a few steps, then wiped the blood flooding from his nose and mouth."Fck. I didn’t expect that you’d figure it out, Luca," he said, his eyes meeting mine. His words enraged me further."And what the fck is that supposed to mean?" I growled, digging my fingers into his neck."I saved you from feeling what you’re feeling now," he replied, trying to pull my hand away as his face turned red."No one has the right to decide for me," I shouted at him. "No fcking one! Do you hear me?" I added, shoving him aside and turning away.Ricardo scoffed, then said, "I wouldn’t say what Marco did was the right thing. You’re blaming him as if he was the

I knew exactly why this stupid heart was acting this way.I love him. With all of my heart. But the way he reacted after I told him everything made me want to disappear. He hates me now—more than ever. His reaction was abnormal. We had sex, and it was great, but the way he acted after smashed all of my dreams. It was midnight. Mama insisted on coming with us to the apartment. She said she couldn’t sleep knowing the Castellanos might try to hurt me if they found out I was alone. I told her fifteen guards were protecting the building, but she insisted.I think she wasn’t here for my physical safety. She was here for my psychological safety. It was obvious to everyone that Luca and I had been
