Cassie's POV My legs tremble the second I swing them off the bed. A dull ache shoots up my bones, but I push through anyway. I'd been unconscious for three days which means I'd missed a lot. Classes, assignments, practicals, I can't afford to miss any again. “I can't keep lying in bed like I don't have classes,” I mutter, trying to steady myself against the nightstand . “I have practicals, tests, upcoming exams—” “Health first, Cassie!” Maya cuts me off, rolling her eyes like I just declared I wanted to run a marathon. I open my mouth to argue, but she shoves half a cupcake between my lips before a single word can escape. It's soft and sweet, melting across my tongue as I chew and swallow. Maya smirks like she has won a battle. “Practicals, tests, exams?” She says, perching beside me on the bed. “They can all wait. My brother already made sure you don't get punished for missing any classes. So just sit your ass down and act like a normal girl instead of a nerd for once. ”

Cassie's POV Captivating blue eyes lock on me and my breath catches in my throat. “Sorry,” the guy says, his lips curling up. “I thought I knew you.” He clears his throat and drops my wrist gently, as if he hadn't just startled the life out of me. I shake my head, staring at his short blonde hair because he looks oddly familiar. There's something about him that tugs at the edge of my memory. Before I can place it, he stretches his hand towards me. “I'm Adrian, the captain of the Bluefang team,” he introduces himself. Of course, a jock.
