Lena’s POVThe day had drained every ounce of energy out of me. I wasn’t even being dramatic, my body felt like it had been wrung out and tossed aside. Hour-long lectures that felt like marathons, group discussions that turned into arguments, a mountain of assignments, and a professor who clearly hated happiness… all of it piled on top of each other until I was convinced my brain was nothing more than fried plantain.By the time I parked and walked into the house, my shoulders throbbed, and my feet begged for mercy. I just stood in the entryway, taking a long breath. And then I sensed something.Warm. Comforting.Like cinnamon mixed with something savory, a little woody, a little familiar. A smell that made something in my chest loosen. It smelled like home. And more specifically, it smelled like Griffin.I followed the scent, dragging my feet toward the kitchen, already feeling some tiny part of my exhaustion melt. The farther I walked, the stronger it grew, like it was pulling me in

Lena’s POV Somehow our corner felt like its own bubble. Griffin, Jane, and I sat around one of the tables pushed near the window, trays half-full. Griffin squinted at my notebook, frowning like he was solving a puzzle. “You know… your handwriting kind of looks like a secret code for spies who are blind.”I raised an eyebrow, pretending to be offended. “Excuse me? I happen to have excellent penmanship, thank you very much.”He leaned closer, a mischievous grin tugging at his lips. “Hmm… yeah, but I think only someone in love could decode it.”I laughed, elbowing him softly. “Oh, really? So you’re saying you’re in love with my handwriting?”He winked. “Every single letter.”“You’re lucky she loves you,” Jane said, pointing a fry at him. “Any other girl would’ve stabbed you with her pen by now.”Griffin smirked like the arrogant man he is. “That’s because she’s mine.”I rolled my eyes, even though I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks. I hated how soft he made me and hated how much

Griffin’s POV I’d been home for hours, but it felt like only my body had made it through the door. My mind was still stuck on Lena, replaying that last moment with her like a broken reel. She’d said she was fine. Not with the way she held her bag like someone was trying to snatch it from her or the way her smile barely flickered before dying out. She had avoided my eyes like looking at me would make her crack.I tossed my bag onto the couch and dropped beside it, elbows on my knees, staring at nothing.“Fine,” I muttered to myself, scoffing. Something wasn’t fine. I pulled my phone from my pocket and dialed her number. It rang twice before sending me straight to voicemail.Of course. Lena and her habit of shutting the world out when she felt herself slipping.I stared at the screen, waiting, hoping it would light up. It didn’t. I tossed it onto the table and leaned back.“She’ll call back,” I said under my breath.Right as I tried to convince myself of that, my phone rang but the nu

Xenia’s POV It had been days since Donald and I had spoken, ever since our fight at school. I couldn’t even tell you when exactly it started to bother me or if it ever really did. The silence between us stretched on, a space that felt heavier than the words we’d thrown at each other. He’d been avoiding me, o texts, no calls either. At first, I didn’t notice, I barely even saw him. Then the maid mentioned it earlier, he had come home while I was out and picked up most of his stuff. I tried not to let it matter, and honestly, at that moment, it didn’t. I had too much going on to sit around and stew over him. Too much drama, too many things I had to handle, like keeping Lils settled and trying not to let my own life fall apart.Lils had basically moved in with me. It wasn’t her fault, her dorm had become a nightmare with the girls making life hell, and her home wasn’t exactly an option either, so we stuck together. Went to school together, came back together, shared space and frustratio

Griffin’s POV“So this is your plan?” I growled, teeth clenched, muscles coiled. “This… is what it’s come to now?”Lilith blinked, caught off guard by the sudden intensity of my tone. Her lips parted like she was about to speak, then she hesitated. “What—? No—”“This wasn’t your call?” I snapped, stepping toward her. My claws itched, barely restrained, and every nerve in my body was alive. “You brought them here?”“I didn’t!” she hissed, eyes flashing with defiance. But I didn’t have the luxury of reading the truth on her face.Because the next second—CRASH!The front window shattered in a violent explosion of glass. The sound made my ears ring, and shards sprayed into the room like deadly confetti. I barely had time to blink before two black-clad figures leapt through the opening, silent, lethal, mid-shift already. Their movements were preternatural, trained beyond any ordinary human or wolf.Instinct took over, my body moved before my mind could catch up.The first one lunged for m
