Home was not a pleasant place to be. The moment we had walked through the door after the deathly silent walk home and all hell had broken loose. Hunter begun smashing the place apart, until tears were rolling down by face. Begging him to stop…I feared for my life, until Ezra had barrelled into the home, and tried to calm his brother. Sipping at my hot chocolate, and picking at the delicious cakes my friend had selected for us, I do my best to focus on the conversation with Prisha. I was trying hard to steer the conversation away from her many attempts at questioning why I think Ezra looks so angry with me, or why he continues to look over in our direction. But all my attempts are failing miserably. My heart pounds as that voice sounds out around us. Ezra leaps back from me, his eyes darting around the forest near us, and he rushes to stand. “Shit, I am sorry, sweet… Lena.” He says bluntly, seeming to correct himself with my name. He regrets what has just happened, I realise with a sinking heart. I thought he wanted it but it now seems he did not. I walk from my room. Showered and dressed. Having chosen a pretty, summery pale lilac strappy skater style dress, and some converse in the same colour. My long blond hair is left loose around my shoulders. I walk out into the hallway and the house is quiet. I had expected a barrage of insults from my husband for keeping him waiting, but he is nowhere to be seen, nor heard, as I move toward the lounge to see if he is sitting with a beer.‘Hunter?’ I link him, knowing if he is not home that way I would know, and that way, I could gain directions to where I should be.
