Derrick’s POV I ran blindly, not pausing for even a moment to worry about where I was heading. As things stood, that was a luxury that I couldn’t afford. I just kept on running, a single, dominant thought on my mind: survive. Anything else could come after that. After I escaped the four men who now seemed to be after my life. Throwing a quick glance over my shoulder, I saw that they were rapidly gaining on me. I tried to run faster but I was already going as fast as I could go. And running had never been my strong suit. In fact, I hadn’t had a reason to run in months. Now that I did, my legs were punishing me for their lack of exercise. The streets around were half-deserted, with cars only passing at distanced intervals. There were a handful of people around, but no one seemed to be interested in offering any form of help.
