Marked by my father's enemy alpha のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 11 - チャプター 20

Lira's POV “Marcus,” I said, my voice sharper than I intended. “You'll stay here, watch him.”He furrowed his brows and blinked as if disoriented. “What?”“Watch Damien,” I said, pointing towards Damien. “He needs a guard, someone he trusts.”“My lady, if I had a choice, I would stay here. But you know the law. In the Alpha's stead, I take command. That means every decision and every defence…”“He's not dead,” I said, my voice cutting through the tent.Everyone went stiff. It seemed like I was crossing a line by the way I spoke to him. “He's not dead,” I said again, quieter this time. “He's injured so perform your duty as his guard. Protect him like you swore to. Leave the rest to me.”For a moment, Marcus was silent. His gaze flicked from Damien and back to me. “Fine,” he finally said, with a low growl of frustration. “ But be careful, whatever that thing is, it's dangerous.”“I intend to find out,” I said, already moving. The path to the holding cell was lined with guards, some wit

Writer's POV “Salcan has tried this kind of thing before,” Marcus said in a low tone. “He never gets it right. That's why he keeps trying over and over again. He won't stop until one of us is dead.”Damien sat still listening to him speak. The rays of sunlight seeped into the tent. The scent of herbs cooked by healers still lingered in the air from last night.Alura was beside Marcus, both of them watching Damien. She reached a hand to help him as he tried to stand. Damien shook his head sharply.“I don't need your help,” he muttered. His muscles were very weak but he ignored it.“I can stand,” he said, supporting himself with his bedstand.Damien was stubborn. He didn't like accepting physical help from others. He always wanted to seem strong no matter what.He struggled to keep his spine straight as he walked towards the tent. You could even say he loved the pain. He believed that it built strength.Outside the tent, the Blackthorne wolves were reorganising after the chaos of the n

Tarlock’s POVThe sun shone brightly over the Tarlock Valley, its rays reflecting on the slate roofs and wheat fields that stretched for miles. From the balcony of my manor, I watched the dust rise in the distance, the envoy returning from the Blackthorne lands. A small smile formed at the corner of my mouth.Peaceful mornings had a way of fooling people. If only everyone could read my mind and see how worried I was about my son.My mate, Amira stood a few paces behind me. The loud clinking sound her gold bracelets made as she tapped her fingers wasn't helping my state of mind. She couldn't hide the irritation on her face. She blamed me for Ronin's disappearance.“They're back on time,” I said to her. *Perhaps, they brought good news from Blackthorne.”She looked away, stepping back further away from me. “Or perhaps they don't respect you enough to give answers to your messengers. You should have marched to Blackthorne with them instead, but no, you decided to remain a coward protecte

Damien's POV I stood facing the Tarlock brothers. I thought it was all four when I saw them from a distance. When I finally met them at the border, I realised the others who followed were just guards. They were all draped in their father's colours. They wouldn't be able to hide their presence in the east if they tried.Kneeling between us was Ronin, at least that's who they thought he was. His head was bowed to the ground and the spell cast by Lira was having its expected effect. “Brother,” Andrew, the eldest brother, stepped forward. “What have they done to you?”There was no response and this aroused their suspicion. I stood still, reaching into my leather jacket to grip my sword.Andrew cleared his throat and forced a smile. “Our father sends his regards. He wishes for peace, says he is organising his own part of the agreement.”My gaze remained fixed on him. “And he sends his sons to negotiate peace, instead of coming himself?”The brothers exchanged looks. “Our father thought i

Damien's POV The camp was a storm of motion. Wolves shouted orders, and armour was being polished for wear. But for me, the pain of everything still felt fresh in my chest. Lira was gone. Every thought led back to that single fact replaying in my head.“We should have taken her,” Alex said. The words burned through me for what felt like the hundredth time. I should have known better. Lira was safer with me than in any guarded camp. But I left her behind.“We failed her,” Alex said in the corner of my mind.Seav knelt a few paces from me with her wrists chained. “I've seen this before,” she said quietly. “When I was with my pack. Before you raided my home and killed them all.”I heard her clearly but I said nothing.“This kind of thing,” she continued, “doesn't happen by chance. They couldn't have gotten her out of the Blackthorne lands without help from someone on the inside.”I turned my gaze towards her. “You'll keep your mouth shut. You're my prisoner, not my advisor.”She smiled.
