Bullies

“This castle is huge, wouldn’t you agree?” Lily asked when she came over.Elsie had a look on her face that said she wasn’t impressed with being interrogated by Lily. She hated us both. I suspected she liked Nero more than I originally thought. There was no other reason for her to terrorize me.“It’s not a castle, it’s a mansion,” Elsie said.“Trust me, I know what a mansion is. My parents own one, and it’s not nearly as huge as this one is. To me, this is a castle, only modern.”Lily kept quiet, waiting for Elsie to agree with her. The young girl had no choice but to reluctantly say yes. She was angry, but she was keeping her cool better than I thought she would.I thought she would have cracked by then and snapped.“I agree. It’s quite huge. Not many people are used to this kind of wealth.” Elsie said. I was beginning to get irritated by her attitude.“Including you, Elsie. After all, you only work here. You have never experienced this kind of wealth. All you do is observe and gasp

What happened? (Nero)

Elsie had been my maid for years. Her mother was my mother’s maid back in Italy. Mama wanted Elsie to study while she worked for me. She wanted me to take care of the girl in New York. She was studying to be a nurse. I was proud of what she had achieved, and I knew she wanted to be more than a maid. I saw how she looked at me, but I had done nothing to make her think she had a chance. When I saw Serena pushing her into the pool countless times, I was taken aback, but I knew Serena wouldn’t have done that for no reason.Elsie knew enough to know my family dabbled in crime, but I never took her for being manipulative. Her tears didn’t move me. After being a killer for years, emotions were foreign to me.Only Serena could get a rise out of me, and I knew enough to know she wouldn’t do something unless Elsie had done something first.Elsie was faking her tears. I could see it as clear as day. I didn’t deal with criminals all day just to be fooled by a woman who thought she was a better ac

All of you

“What else should I trust you with?” I asked him.I was impulsive, and I loved jumping to conclusions. When things didn’t go the way I thought they would, I freaked out and thought the worst. It was a character flaw I was aware that I had.But I couldn’t help myself. When I thought about how I had assumed the worst of Nero, I was immediately embarrassed. I didn’t want to admit to myself that I just kept waiting for the other shoe to drop when it came to him.“I want your heart and your soul…I want everything you have to offer me. I want your trust—trust that I am on your side and that I will never put anything above you. Do you hear me?” He asked me.“How can I trust you with my heart when you won’t give me yours?” I asked him.We were getting serious, and attachment could lead to something dangerous. We had only been together for five months, and every bone in my body craved his touch and lived for his approval.Maybe it was how good the sex was, but I couldn’t get enough of him. Eve

Don't trust everyone

Nero punished me all night and then fucked me into oblivion. My ass was red and raw, my neck had his marks, and there were bite marks all over my body. He had fucked me for more than eight hours straight. He fucked my pussy, my ass, my mouth, and my breasts. He took everything I had to give, and I let him. By the time he was done with me, I didn’t even remember my name. I passed out on his bed again. He was gone by the time I got up as usual. I wore his shirt and went downstairs. Since I was much smaller in form than he was, his shirt swallowed me whole. It reached my knees and was baggy.I went downstairs, and they served my breakfast for me. I had already forgotten Elsie, but remembered her when I saw her.Too bad Nero wasn’t around. I would have used him to make her jealous and show her I meant her words. She deserved the worst.I hated her, and I didn’t even know her that well. She had shown me how bad and jealous a person she was. She was in the kitchen with a scarf, but she refu

To plan a party

I was aware that Serena’s brother didn’t like me. I didn’t mind that he didn’t like me because my brothers didn’t like Serena either. They told me she was a distraction and that she was making me do things I never would have done.If I had a penny for every single time Nico told me that he was going to come and kill me if I fell in love with the Ricci girl, I would have a million pennies. He was a fuckboy who didn’t know what it meant to have a woman mess with your mind.He would find a woman who made him feel what Serena made me feel, and then he would understand that doing things to protect your woman was normal.I didn’t want him in New York. He would scare Serena and make her feel like shit. He only kept reminding me that I was getting married to the Irish princess. Contracts had been signed and alliances forged. It was normal for arranged marriage to happen in the mafia. We had been raised to do nothing but enrich the mafia and only do things to expand territories and influence.

Nico (Nero)

Nico being in New York was the worst thing to happen. I didn’t want him in my circle and in my business, but he had to show up. He was reminding me that he was the head of the family, and I couldn’t defy him, no matter how much I wanted to.When other people’s families visited, they were happy. When mine visited, it always meant trouble. I loved my brother, but he never visited for leisure.Like the womanizer Nico was, he stared at a woman who was walking past us. He was probably thinking about who he was going to take home. He had a townhouse in New York, a penthouse, and a mansion in Greenwich. Each of us had our own property in the places where we carried out business. Nobody wanted to share a space with their brothers. Besides, mine were worse than most. They were overbearing and bossy. Each of us had been raised to be dominant and command power. The four of us could not coexist in the same space for a long time.“What are you doing here?” I asked him.“Visiting you and making sur

Her birthday

It was my birthday. When I woke up, there was a note on my bedside table from Nero. He told me happy birthday and left me flowers and a box. It looked small enough to hold jewelry, and I immediately opened it.There were limited-edition pieces there. I didn’t even want to know the price of some. All I knew was that I was going to rock that jewelry when I went out with Lily and some of our mutual friends to celebrate my party.I was about to go down for breakfast when my phone rang. Lily wanted to FaceTime. I picked up immediately, and she sang for me. Despite the lack of talent we both had for singing, it made me happy to hear her tell me that.“Thank you. I don’t know what to say,” I said as I almost cried. We had been friends for years. I didn’t know if I would have survived half the shit I went through mentally if it wasn’t for her. She had always been there for me, and I for her.“I’ll see you later for something some of the girls and I are planning for you. Get ready to have fun.

Crying on your birthday

Lily looked away.“I don’t know, Serena. I have tried calling him, but he’s not answering. Call him. I’m sure he’ll take your call.” She said.“He’ll probably be here later, Lily. He can’t plan all of this and refuse to show up. I can’t believe he bought the hotel. Could it have been for my birthday, or did the purchase happen to fall around the same time?” I asked.Lily gave me a deadpan look.“He obviously bought it for your birthday. Oh God, I want a billionaire to love me. This is amazing. He planned it himself and made sure to coordinate with me to make sure everything was to your liking.”I blushed. There was a whole section of gifts I had received from people. I started interacting with people when I noticed Luca with Zio and Matteo. I didn’t think Zio Lorenzo would show up at a party with young people, but he was there.I met him halfway and hugged him. Despite my growing concerns regarding all the information he was keeping from me, he was my family. I wouldn’t just stop lovi

Remaining dignity

My party was in all the gossip blogs when I woke up. That was a reason I loathed high society. Gossip was the norm to the point that you couldn’t sneeze without anyone putting it on Instagram, blogging it, or tweeting it.They were calling it the party of the year. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel as proud as everyone did of the party. All I wanted was for Nero to be there, and he wasn’t. That alone had me so distraught that I didn’t even enjoy half of it.But in Nero’s classic fashion, he got me priceless gifts. There was a burgundy couture Oscar de la Renta gown from the fall collection of the year two thousand that I wanted for ages, a few more rare jewelry pieces, and Jimmy Choo heels—my favorite. It had to be illegal to know a girl so well that you got her the dress and shoes of her dreams and then ditch her to go to Chicago on her birthday. He gave me more gifts because he felt guilty for the fact that he wasn’t going to be near New York when I wanted him to be.I refused to speak t

Absence

A week. That was how long it had been since I last saw Nero. He still didn’t respond to my calls, and he didn’t speak to me. I cried myself to sleep two times that week, neglecting to count my birthday.I was sick of thinking of him and being alone at the house. Luca was back in school, and I didn’t have anyone to keep me company but Lily, so I stayed over at her house.I pretended to be happy in front of her because I didn’t want her to keep worrying about me and carrying the burden of my problems all the time. She was like a sister to me. She couldn’t keep saving me from my mistakes. The only thing that kept me occupied was trying to find out all the information I could get on Lorenzo and his late wife. I was digging into his life, and it made me feel weird and ungrateful. But it was necessary. I didn’t like what I was finding. Lorenzo and his wife had a nasty divorce, and then she disappeared.Lorenzo was the main suspect in her disappearance since he had told her on countless occa
