The pain in my chest wouldn’t go away. It had been a week since I broke it off with Nero, and I wish I could say I felt any better. I didn’t. If anything, I felt worse. I had taken time off work because, since that night, I couldn’t get out of bed even to eat. I felt numb and hurt at the same time. I had to be at work in two days, and I couldn’t comprehend how I was going to get anything done when I felt like shit.I truly thought Nero and I would last longer, but we didn’t get to finish the six months together. How could I have known someone for such a short time and felt so deeply for them?He had taken everything there was to give—my heart, my soul, and my sanity and left me with nothing. Moving forward was starting to feel impossible by the second.“You can’t sulk forever,” Lily said as she opened the curtains in my room, blinding me.I screamed for her to close them, and she did. She had stayed with me for a week, no matter how much I had asked her to leave. I didn’t want to be

I turned to try to leave, but he grabbed my arm and pulled me into him. He crushed his lips to mine, and like the desperate whore I was for his attention, I kissed him back. I melted into him and gave in.My mind was telling me to leave, but my body wouldn’t listen. Every single fibre of my being screamed to be near him. I was delighted to be in his presence and have him touch me everywhere. He trailed his mouth to my neck, and he sucked as hard as he could, like he was trying to permanently mark me. I let him do what he wanted. When his hands went underneath his sweatshirt, and he cupped my breasts, I couldn’t help but moan.He grabbed the back of my thighs and put me on his desk, pushing all the times on top away. Before I could protest, he pulled my sweatshirt off and took off my sweatpants. He took off my panties and kneeled at my feet.I had never felt more powerful.“You’re as beautiful as ever,” he said as he buried his face in my pussy. He ate me out like he couldn’t get enoug

Serena was right. Something wasn’t right about her parents’ deaths. Their financier died shortly after they did, and he was the one who said they were almost bankrupt. The numbers didn’t make sense.A third party was funneling their money to offshore accounts, but I doubted Serena knew that. They weren’t broke; someone was trying to make them seem like they were. I didn’t know what motive someone would have to kill someone like Giovanni. He was a sweet man, and Adrian liked the man so much that he attended the funeral. We didn’t care about most of the people who worked for us, but Adrian had a soft spot for Giovanni Ricci. It wasn’t a coincidence that he died shortly after someone started taking his money. The financier was eliminated because he was involved, and he was a loose end who couldn’t be left alive.Maybe he was murdered for his money. Either way, the offshore accounts were drained into other offshore accounts that couldn’t be traced. The perpetrator was very careful and res

The news of Nero’s engagement hit the tabloids. The news was still considered a rumor since the name of his fiancée had not been released, and Nero himself had not confirmed or denied these rumors. It crushed me to see things like that on the internet. Thinking those rumors were true broke me, but I wasn’t surprised. Elise had already told me that Nero would only marry for connections and money. It didn’t surprise me that he was getting married. Lily was right. The reason he was eager to end what we had was that he was engaged to an Irish woman. At least that was who the tabloids said he was engaged to.“I saw the tabloids,” Lily said.“I don’t want to talk about it. He has been part of my life for way too long. I need to focus my energy on doing what brought me to New York.” I said.“Aren’t you going to ask him if the rumors are true?” She asked.“And if they are? What am I supposed to do then? It’s in my best interests to cut off contact completely.”She remained silent and looked a

One moment, everything was fine, and the next, I was blasted across the room. Pain erupted throughout my entire body. My ears were ringing, and there was a sharp pain in my side that prevented me from moving. There were screams all over the diner and people running for cover. Heavy footsteps thudded in the room as a group of men barged in. I could see them through blurry eyes. I saw them walk to where I was sitting earlier and shoot a couple of times.I tried to scream and shout, but nothing came out. Suddenly, everything went black.***When I woke up, I was in the hospital. There was a bandage on my head and things attached to my hand. My head was throbbing, but I didn’t care about that. I wanted to see Adrian. He had been on the verge of telling me everything.“You’re awake,” Lily said.“Where’s Adrian?!” I screamed.I tried to get off the bed, but Lily stopped me. She called the doctor, and I was sedated. When I woke up again, Lily was gone, and Nero was sitting by my bedside.“Wh
