When the news of my death on the battlefield, pinned to the pack's watchtower by silver arrows, reached my pack, my Alpha mate, Killian, simply laughed. He thought I was just jealous he was going to claim the Rogue, that I was faking my own death just to get his attention."I was just trying to bring Valerie into the pack, and this is how she threatens me? With her own death?""I left her with my most elite warriors. How could she possibly be dead!""Tell her to get back here. I will claim Valerie, but after that, the title of Luna is still hers."Seven days later, he appeared before my family's home, carrying the ceremonial Luna circlet. He saw me in my white ceremonial dress, resting quietly beneath the white birch tree in the garden, and he breathed a sigh of relief."I knew it. You were just giving me the silent treatment again."But in the next second, a pack elder's voice thundered:"Prepare the funeral pyre. Let us pay our final respects to our fallen warrior, Sloane!"..."Alph

The pack's annual Harvest Hunt arrived, right on schedule. In the end, Killian never received the arrows I was supposed to have prepared for him.To everyone's surprise, he came to my family's home unannounced. After all, in the past, no matter how bad our fights were, I was always the first one to give in.A deathly silence and a solemn atmosphere hung over the estate.Killian wasn't wearing his Alpha's ceremonial attire, but was dressed casually as he navigated the familiar path to my door.My soul watched him, and I suddenly found it amusing. Had this arrogant fool not noticed that something was terribly wrong?Moonlight filtered through the window, casting a cold, silver light on the floor.Through the crack in the door, he could see a figure sitting motionless by the window."Sloane, can I come in?"No response. He raised his hand and knocked gently on the door. "Sloane?"Still, a deathly silence. He sighed softly. His hand paused in midair, then dropped to his side."Valerie was

Back at the Alpha's residence, Killian slammed the door shut. His chest heaved, the rage in his veins burning hot enough to consume him.His mind was filled with the image of my still, silent figure.Sharp stabs of pain shot through the Mate Bond, no longer the familiar warmth of love.It was a cold, grating resentment coiling around his heart, a feeling he couldn't explain, leaving him breathless."Does she hate me so much that she'd rather watch her own father's dignity be trampled than see me for a single moment!"He crushed the crystal decanter in his hand. All the servants immediately fell to their knees, trembling. His fist slammed onto the oak table, his eyes blood-red."Sloane, just because I pitied a homeless she-wolf, you will not be satisfied until my heart is torn to shreds?"Killian gritted his teeth, a hint of grim resolve in his eyes."Fine. Since you're so stubborn, don't blame me for what I do next."He strode to his desk, took up a pen, and penned an Alpha decree. The

Day after day, letters from the dungeons arrived for Killian. And each time, Killian tore them to shreds."Tell her that nothing she does now will make any difference.""And," a cold light glinted in his eyes, "break her hands. I do not want her writing again."From then on, no more pleas from Valerie reached him.Half a month passed.I still lay on that soft, large bed, my body already beginning to decay. But Killian came to talk to me every day.As if I were still alive. He marked the days. Then he went to the dungeons himself. He wanted to see what had become of Valerie. And he wanted to ask her himself where she found the nerve to deceive him so brazenly. But Valerie's condition was not what he expected. He had thought she would be gaunt from lack of food and warmth, perhaps with a few bruises from clumsy jailers. But when he arrived, he found Valerie on the verge of death. She was curled in a corner, covered in blood. Her hands were twisted at unnatural angles, clearly broken and

Through Liam's account, Killian finally learned everything that had happened after he left that day.He had left his most elite warriors. But not long after, Valerie appeared bearing his wolf fang, a token still radiating his Alpha scent, and ordered the main force to withdraw.Only my personal guard, warriors loyal to my family, refused the order.Valerie's word was the Alpha's, especially since she held his personal token. So all the warriors had to obey.Except for my family's warriors.Valerie threatened to have them executed for treason. But they would rather be executed than leave my side.Seeing that my warriors were on the verge of mutiny, Valerie knew she had no command over them and left in a fury. Before she left, she took all the silver weapons with her.She knew that by doing so, my death was all but certain."What did you say?" Killian's heart clenched painfully."Without silver weapons, how did they fight off the rogue alliance?""We formed a suicide squad," Liam explain
