*ALANA* Well, that could just be a coincidence.But then I started recalling the few things I’ve picked up from Linda and Patricia’s discussion.Manuel Buford had been abroad for many years and was coming back to Bellbanks in a week’s time to settle down. Julia had told me a few things about her father. About how he and her mother who was late, had her at a young age.Her father was in his early forties and had also been abroad for many years. She had confided in me about how she didn’t like that he was abroad, for it created a huge distance between them. They barely communicated but he always sends her huge sums of money. She had said they used to be very close when she was little but ever since her mother passed when she was ten, it felt like they had drifted apart as well and he went abroad when she was in high school, leaving her in the care of the butler and his wife. Patricia also mentioned the butler’s wife wanting to see me. I hurried past Patricia.

CHAPTER 4: My turn

*ALANA* “You look so beautiful, my dear.” Patricia cooed. I eyed her. I didn’t fall for that. She was just being nice because Valentina was in the room. I stared at the mirror. About three people hovered around me making last minutes tweaks to the wedding dress. It was a sleeveless gown, revealing my beautifully decorated necklace. The gown flowed on the floor as I walked, tiny diamonds sewn in a lace overlay sparkled. It was my wedding day, my wedding to Manuel Buford. A lot had happened these past few days. I had undergone some medical scans and texts. According to Valentina, they had to make sure I was clean and my reproductive organs were okay before the wedding. Everything came out well. *MANUEL* Do weddings take this long to be over?It was exhausting.It felt like the day was dragging on. I was currently at my study, going through some documents. The wedding ceremony wasn’t over yet but my barely existent social battery had died down and I’ve had enough. The bride could entertain the guests until all of them dispersed. *ALANA* Manuel was glaring so hard at me that I had to try not to cower.
