Diana took Valerie to the maids' quarters and gave her clothes to change into."You can take your bath over there." She pointed. "And rest here when you are done eating." Valerie nodded. "I will drop your food on the table before you are done taking your bath. And I will be back by evening to take you to see the Beta."Valerie nodded again. "Thank you." Diana left and Valerie went to take her bath. She got dressed and then sat down to eat the food Diana had brought. She was happy it was snacks; she didn't have the appetite to eat much and wouldn't want to waste the food. When she was done eating, she lay down on the bed and was soon asleep."Valerie? Val?" Someone called out to her, tapping her slightly.Valerie opened her eyes to see Diana staring at her. She sat up and stared at the wall clock. It was a few minutes past seven."I am sorry I woke you up but you need to go and see the Beta before he goes to the evening meeting."Valerie nodded. "I will be right back."Valerie went in

Valerie could not stop laughing. He sounded so confident and she admired that. "Isn't your Alpha ruthless?" She asked. "How could you joke with his name so easily?" Is his reputation that bad? He wondered. "Tell me more," he said, and she furrowed her brows. "You don't know about your Alpha?" He coughed slightly. "I-I am new here." Valerie nodded. She could tell. She decided to tell him everything she knew about him. "You can't let anyone know about this," she mumbled and he nodded. "Thank you for telling me all these," he said and she smiled. "You are welcome." He stood up. "I should return to my post." Valerie nodded. "See you around." He smiled. "By the way, are you a maid here?" Valerie nodded. "Yes, but I won't be staying for long though." "You're leaving? Didn't you just get here?" Valerie furrowed her brows. How did he know she was new here? "How..." "I mean I have been here a few days earlier and this is the first time I am meeting with you." Valerie sighed.

The loud knocking on Valerie's door woke her up from her sleep. She stood up from the bed, wondering who was knocking so loudly."Who is that?" She asked, trying to hide the anger that was evident in her voice.Valerie received no reply, which angered her more. She was certain it wasn't Diana; she wouldn't knock on her door that way."Who is that!" She yelled this time, letting her anger flow naturally.When she received no reply again, she went to open the door ready to bash whoever was knocking."Who are you?" Valerie asked when she saw a strange face by the door.The young lady standing by her door folded her arms. "Is she the one?"Someone moved closer to the lady. It was Bella; Valerie had not noticed her when she opened the door."Yes, she is."The lady stared at Valerie with disdain. "You're the one trying to steal the Alpha from me?"Valerie furrowed her brows. "Sorry? Who are you?"The lady frowned. "Did you just ask me who I am?"Valerie scoffed. Why is she feeling offended

"You are not going to ask about his mate?" Arden asked. Valerie sighed. Maybe because she doesn't have a mate herself, she did not see that as a question. But she already asked about his fiancee though. "Isn't your fiancée supposed to be your mate?" "I do not have a mate," Leonard answered, ignoring Valerie's question. "And I am not tied to any mate bond." Valerie nodded. It's good to know that. But would it be nice to let him know she doesn't have a mate either? And that she is cursed? "What about you, Valerie. Don't you have a mate?" Arden asked. Arden wasn't trying to separate them, nor was he trying to discourage their reunion. He was worried that Leonard would go too deep with her, only to find out she has a mate. Valerie shook her head. "I am not destined to have a mate." "Y-you don't have a mate?" Arden stuttered. Valerie smiled. "Not only that. I don't have a wolf either."

Valerie woke up very early. She had taken her bath, got dressed, and was ready to leave. She wanted to be at the Moonlight Pack before evening. Since she didn't know the way out of the Pack, she waited in her room for who would come and pick her up.While she waited, Valerie decided to check on her father. She put a call through to her cousin and he assured her that he is responding to treatment."He hasn't woken up yet but he should be up in a few days.
