VioletI had felt victorious for a total of five seconds before the slight feeling of guilt even popped up.I wasn’t a mean or nasty person, I was just flustered and sleep-deprived. I barely knew him, and needed his help. And this was not the way I would get it.However, Elijah tilted his head to the side a little, studying me.I could swear I saw his lips twitch, veering towards a smile.Asshole!“No, I didn’t,” I spat out, but that only made that smile grow just a little wider.“You sure sound like you spent the entire night trying to find out information about me. Maybe that's why I see those little circles under your eyes.”He tapped his finger on his chin.“Did anybody tell you that you are annoying?” A smile finally appeared on his lips. Not a half-hearted one.But a full smile that lit up his face. His smile was contagious, and it almost made me smile. Almost.Elijah was so stiff and guarded since I showed up in his cabin, but I saw just a real flicker of emotion directed at m

VioletI had this sudden urge to ask her to elaborate. After all, that had been my plan to fish out information from her that would prove vital for me later. But I also had a feeling, she would blurt it out in front of him the second she returned home if I immediately reacted. So I decided to be tactical and ask her later when she was a little drunk. Hence, I quashed that thought down. For now.We both stepped out of the cab, and I immediately froze. The building before us towered like a giant creature of glass and light. Neon signs flashed across the roof in dizzying pinks and electric golds, and bass-heavy music thumped through the door guarded by a few bouncers.I tilted my head up, blinking against the glow. “So… we’re at a pub.”Cassie grinned, looping her arm through mine. “Technically, yes. Think of it as… an interactive pub.”“What the hell is an interactive pub?”Her grin was far too mischievous for comfort. But I was going to stick to my simple plan: have a drink or two, pre

VioletI had never gotten over a hangover so fast in my life.Elijah drove like a madman and ignored our terrified screams from the backseat as he swerved and cut through narrow lanes, whooshing past people and trees alike. His eyes kept glancing at us from time to time, but no way did he slow down. I saw his muscles flex as he gripped the steering wheel too hard, and pushed the accelerator like his life depended on it.I wasn’t sure how long the ride lasted, but he abruptly pulled to a curb, and we both smacked our heads on the front seats as he parked in a driveway.“Ow, we didn’t die,” I joked as I struggled to find the door handle, but Elijah had already slammed his door shut and yanked the door beside me open.He didn’t say a word, but I could feel the heat and anger rising off him like steam over boiling water. His fingers clutched the door a bit too tightly, and he stepped aside to give me a way.Cassie, meanwhile, joined me, and he slammed the door shut, making us nearly jump.

VioletThere are some things you can't truly describe no matter how hard you try, some experiences you can’t just truly comprehend.Getting kissed by Elijah was like that. He didn’t do slow, or soft. His kiss was pure fire and desire, lighting my veins up like fireworks. The glass in his hand was long discarded, and it clinked against the floor once before thudding softly upon the carpet. The door of his room was still partly open, wider than the three inches it had been earlier when I was sneaking up on him and walked in when he noticed me.That tattooed hand went up in my hair, grabbing my hair and tugging at it as he tilted my head back. And the other went behind my back, holding me in place.I felt him exhale, low and deep, as he ran his hand in my hair, as he forced my mouth open with his. Those full lips truly knew what they were doing, how they could smirk to evoke a reaction, how they could kiss and bring back a soul back to life.I whimpered again as I felt him slam into me,

VioletI turned around to look at my parents talking to each other. They had always been like this. Soft and loving towards each other.Mom found Dad’s goofiness endearing, and Dad found Mom to be the most beautiful woman to ever have his eyes laid on.They were funny and acted a little weird at times, but the truth was that they never had eyes for another.Growing up, I always suspected the phrase ‘love you to the moon and back’ originated because of my parents. They would argue and bicker, but they always hovered around each other, made each other smile and were just the perfect definition of mates.I stared at them for a bit longer, seeing Mom try to force him to eat something and Dad shaking his head before finally relenting to her.It made me smile. It also made me cry.Sighing, I retraced my steps back to my room. Nate had left a gaping hole in my life as if somebody had pulled out my still thumping heart and then Cassie and her brother had taken me by storm.I had temporarily
