VioletSo my senses weren’t deceiving me. Rain felt it too.I wasn’t just sure what to do about it. He was being exactly like I wanted him to be- cold, distant and aloof.Yet, now I was supposed to report to him, supposed to work for him. Why would he want me working so close to him everyday if he didn’t give a fuck about the game he and Nicole played with me?I fished for the mobile in my purse. There were still no replies or calls from Dane.My head hurt as I grabbed my stuff and reached the parking lot to see that it was empty except for my car. Elijah had truly left after just forcing me to work for him.I received a call from Mom and knew she would bite my head off if I didn’t pick it up so put it on speaker.“Its been a long day. I am driving home and will explain how everything went, just wait for me.”She noticed my exhausted voice and mumbled. “Okay, it's quite late so I was checking on you. Come soon.”“Yes mom” I replied and mentally prepared myself for a question and answe

VioletDid I need sleep or just a strong cup of coffee?I wondered about Elijah’s weird behavior as I went back to my cabin and the door clicked shut behind me. I stood there for a moment, my hand still resting on the handle, my mind replaying that single, impossible detail over and over again. Was he sick? Was he exhausted? But that redness didn’t look like either.I exhaled slowly and walked to my desk, lowering myself into the chair as I pressed my fingers against my temple, trying to ground myself in something logical, something that made sense.I imagined it!I had definitely imagined it!There was no other explanation that didn’t spiral into something absurd. He was infuriating, manipulative, unpredictable, but he wasn’t… that. Was he?My jaw tightened at the thought, irritation rising alongside the unease. This was exactly what he did. He would disrupt, confuse, and throw me off balance until I started questioning my own judgment instead of his actions.I let out a sharp breat

VioletA woman was running through a forest, terror on her face. Men were chasing her, wolves among them. There was a clash between magic and claws followed by blood on the ground. A scream echoed but was cut off too abruptly. Then it shifted to another scene. It was the same woman, but this time she was bound and broken, being dragged toward an ornate mirror. I could hear words being spoken in a language I didn't know but felt in my bones. The mirror's surface rippled like water as it began to gleam and the incantations grew louder as she was pulled inside, her form dissolving into light and shadow.I woke with a gasp, my body jerking upright in bed. Sunlight streamed through my windows, telling me the morning had already well advanced. My alarm had gone off at some point and I'd apparently turned it off without waking properly.I swung my legs out of bed and my foot landed on something that crinkled.I looked down to see papers scattered all across my floor around the bed. There we

VioletI let out a gasp, my hands flying to cover my mouth as terror flooded through me."Your... your eyes," I said, my voice trembling so badly I could barely form the words.Elijah looked down immediately, his shoulders tensing as he took several deep breaths. When he looked back up at me, he was rubbing at his eyes slightly, like something had irritated them.“Probably got dust in them” He mumbled, still rubbing them.“No, they looked….”I trailed off, unsure what to even say to him."What about them?" His tone was casual, almost dismissive, and when he opened his eyes fully, they were normal. Just the dark brown I'd come to know so well, no trace of that burning red iris or the pitch black void.I blinked in confusion, my mind scrambling to make sense of what I'd just seen. Had I imagined it? Was my exhausted, stressed brain conjuring things that weren't there?"I... nothing," I fumbled, feeling foolish and uncertain.Elijah continued as if nothing had happened, as if he hadn't j

VioletI forced myself to climb into bed and close my eyes, counting numbers until sleep came eventually, fitful and restless but mercifully dreamless.I was only woken up by a knock on the door and my mother’s voice.“Violet” she whispered to me.“I need to sleep a bit more” I replied drowsily, burying my face in the pillows.“Its 5 pm already” she said softly and I jerked up awake.“What?” I asked, hurriedly looking around for my phone to check the time.Mom gently approached me and placed a hand on my neck and forehead.“You don’t have a fever which is good.”I had slept the entire day.“Why didn’t you wake me?” Panic seized me immediately as I thought of missing work and an entire day without calling in, without informing anyone. What must Elijah think? What would my team think?“Because you need to rest. Now, relax while I get something to eat for you.”She had already walked out of my room but I angrily shook my head, hoping to drive sleep away and stifled a yawn.It was truly
