Veronica’s POV The taste of bile burned my throat as I leaned over the sink, trembling. Again. For what felt like the tenth time this morning, my stomach rejected everything I’d eaten. My reflection in the mirror looked pitiful pale lips, watery eyes, and hair clinging to my forehead. I splashed cold water on my face, but it did little to help.I stumbled toward the door, gripping the wall for balance, but before I could even make it to the edge of the bed, the world spun violently. The room blurred into shadows, my knees gave out, and everything went dark.When I woke again, soft murmurs surrounded me. My maid, Isla, was kneeling beside the bed, panic written all over her face. “My lady!
