Ayla's pov. The bathroom door opened to Killian, he came out with steam clinging to his skin, a white towel hanging low around his waist, droplets of water tracing slow paths down his chest. He subconsciously ran a hand through his damp hair which was oddly sexy, I admired some more until his eyes found mine as I sat with legs crossed on the edge of the bed. I hadn't moved since he went in, what Ivy said made me uncomfortable, though I tried to shake it off, it still lingered. What did she mean Aiden may not be ordinary, had my presence turned him into something else. My shoulders were slightly tensed but my gaze remained on him. “You're looking at me like I'm some weird elf" he cornered a smile which I returned. For a moment I debated on whether to tell him anything at all but it involved him and even if I wanted to shrug it off as one of Ivy's exaggerations. " Ivy called,” I said, "Before you came out.” Killian's posture changed instantly. The ease left him and was replaced

Killian's pov The sky was dim now. And night stars shone bright, even more brighter than the moon itself. I stayed back in the room. I wished I was more like Ayla who had overgrown her fears and learned to seek ways around everything. But no. I still relived in my head the days I was locked up, uncontrollable and vicious. when Kallum had me in his clutches. I streaked my hands into my hair. The room was quiet, not the comforting kind, it was the kind that pressed against my skin.Like the world was holding its breath. I wouldn't deny that part of it was because there was a witch according to Ayla, hunting for me. I took a deep breath, Ayla's scent lingered faintly in the room, calming me as I sat on the edge of the bed, tense for no reason. But then I heard her. “Killian.." Ayla called out to me. My brow furrowed as my head snapped up. Her voice was soft and fragile, like she was in need, like it was wrong in a way something almost right could be. I straightened up and st

Ayla's pov To me, the house now felt like home. It felt like a cage. I paced the living room for the fifth time in less than five minutes, trying to figure out if Killian had mentioned him going anywhere but there was nothing. My heartbeat thundered louder than the ticking clock on the wall and every second without Killian felt wrong, like my soul was being sucked out of my body and returned, only for it to be sucked out again. I was like a ticking time bomb and the only thing keeping bay was the spells Ivy kept on conducting.Earlier she had searched around, though she found the garden door open, she assumed he must have gone through there.“Gone?” I asked “He wouldn't just disappear," I said, my voice shaking despite my effort to steady it. “Not without a word, or me feeling it" “I think it was interfered with,” Ivy said. "What?” I turned to her. "The bond.” Ivy stood at the center of the room, chalk dust smeared along her fingers and sweat beads on her themes to show how l

Sixty seven The silence after my confession stretched longer than it should, longer than the time I had to waste. Clara's shoulder relaxed slowly, like she was no longer trusting herself to sit upright. Her fingers twisted making her knuckles flex white and pink again.I watched her stare at the floor, exhaling sharply before she lifted her eyes towards me.“A wolf," she said again, quietly. It wasn't accusingly or mocking, it was just as if she was testing the word.“You're telling me you're an actual wolf?" She asked again.“You saw it" I tell her Her expression relaxed. “I did" safe paused “I actually fucking did" I couldn't say anything, I couldn't. "So what am I supposed to ask now? Who are you? Are you even real? What else have you been lying about Elara” I met her gaze. “I am real I guess…. My name is actually Ayla" Clara leaned back on the chair, she allowed silence to implode between us. " How long?” "All my life.” "All this time,” she muttered. Not staring at me d

Third person's pov The guest room smelled of limestone and smoke. Ivy wiped her hands on a cloth already stained dark with drying blood and let out a slow and steady breath. The candles were set and the circle redrawn. Everything was ready again. Clara sat on the edge of the bed this time, quieter than before, she watched Ivy's movements with an intensity that gave off the vibe of someone trying very hard not to panic. She wondered how, when and why. Wolves and witches. She only read those in books. She read once And then She was sure it was tagged as fanfic. Taking it as all it ever was, till now. Ivy turned to her and looked away, trying to figure out what to say, after preparing the circle. She straightened up. “I'm sorry Clara" Clara looked up, back from her thoughts. “For what?" “For keeping you in the dark, for lying" she replied without looking at her “for letting you like me without letting you know what doing that would cost you" Clara looked down at her feet
