The silence in the room was louder than the moans had been. It was an insult. A physical weight pressing against my chest. I stood at the edge of the bed, watching the flickering blue light of her laptop screen reflect in her eyes. She was still wearing those headphones. Still acting like I was a ghost.I didn't think. I just acted. I reached down and ripped the headphones off her head."Hey!" she snapped, finally looking at me. Her eyes were wide, the pupils blown with sudden adrenaline. "What the hell is your problem?""My problem?" I leaned over her, my hands planting on either side of her hips, pinning her into the mattress. The scent of her, vanilla and that sharp, defiant fire, was overwhelming now that Cassandra’s perfume was gone. "My problem is that you seem to have forgotten who you’re talking to.""I know exactly who I'm talking to," she hissed, trying to push against my chest. Her hands were small, but they felt like brands against my skin. "I'm talking to a man who’s

Ava’s POVThe morning air outside was crisp, but it was a relief compared to the suffocating luxury of the dining hall. I walked along the stone path of the rose garden, my shoes clicking softly against the gravel. For the first time in what felt like forever, the constant, crushing weight in my chest eased just a fraction.Because I wasn't alone."I’m telling you, he once spent three hours trying to track down a rogue squirrel because he thought it was a spy from the neighboring pack," Ethan laughed, his shoulders bouncing under his leather jacket. "The guy has zero chill. He’s had a stick up his ass since he was twelve."A genuine, breathless laugh escaped my lips. "Please tell me you have pictures of that.""Somewhere in the old archive room, absolutely. I’ll dig them out for you," Ethan said, giving me a warm, easy smile. He walked with a lazy grace, hands shoved into his pockets, totally the opposite of Jaxson.Looking at Ethan, I felt a wave of profound relief. After the b

Jaxson’s POVI knew he was out there. The scent of leather clinging to the air. Ethan was still out on that ledge, pressed against the brickwork in the dark thinking he was slick. My wolf was clawing at my throat to tear my brother to pieces for standing anywhere near what was ours, for coming near her. But as Ava’s small hands tangled in my collar, pulling me down into her heat, a darker, much more vicious instinct took over.Let him stay, the wolf whispered, its teeth baring inside my head. Let him watch.I didn’t say it out loud. I didn’t dare let Ava know that her little savior was trapped on the other side of that sheer curtain. But as I stared down into her defiant, blown-out pupils, a cruel, possessive thrill shot straight to my core. I was going to ruin her right here against the glass. I was going to make her scream my name so loud that it would bleed through the stone walls, carving the sound of her submission directly into my brother's skull until he understood that she

Fuck Jaxson. Fuck the maids. Fuck everybody. Fuck my lie. In fact, fuck me.Today was supposed to be the end of my 'vacation' and the beginning of my Luna roles. I thought I'd finally be able to have a little bit of freedom, but nope. From the mansion, to the village where the wolves reside freely, to confrences in town where the wolves reside with humans. And oh- I have my own entourage. Once again. Fuck. My. LIfe.I hadn't seen Jaxson in four days. Since he fucked me by the window to spite his brother. I hate myself for giving in. For letting this stupid bond cloud my judgement. Never again.I walked down the marble steps slowly, my hand gliding over the railing. I had ditched the stupid dresses, opting for a simple blue knit sweater and dark jeans, my legs feeling very comfy in my vans. The main hall was bustling with pack members; fighters carrying training gear, high ranking betas coordinating schedules, and elders whispering in the corners. The moment my boots tuched the ground

AVA'S POVI finally decided to see the pack in the training ground, but I decided to stick with my sweater and jeans. If they want to see me, they get to see me and not the edied version of me. I'm all for dresses and heels but I didn't want to have to polish myself before talking to them, plus part of me wanted to piss Jaxson off.One of the maids, led me to the training grounds, and holy shit they were a lot. I was suddenly regretting sticking with the sweater. My hands started suddenly became sweaty and my knees wobbly. Was it too late to run away? Memories of the past started flooding in. Me training on these grounds. Me crying on these grounds. i swore never to come back here, and now, I'm spposed to be their Luna. The Luna to the boy who had made my life hell. The Luna to the pack who sat there and watched. As if on cue, Jaxson stepped in fron of me, took in my oufit and just gave me a nod. A nod? That's it?He reached out his arm, motioning for me to grab it. "What?" he said.
