AMELIA Conrad's expression suddenly turned cold. “Nothing," I said, my voice a little too quick. “I just heard Mr Pierre's voice and knew you were in here. I didn't hear anything." I feigned ignorance, hoping my expression and lie was convincing enough, even as my heart hammered against my ribs. He stared at me, his eyes piercing mine.
