Hard Curves (Dangerous Curves 2) のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 61 - チャプター 70

“I have something for you, too,” she said.“Yeah?”“Yeah. But I’ll give it to you after dinner.”“Do I get a hint?” he said hopefully. “Even a little one?”“OK.” She stood up and slowly ran her hand up the front of her blouse. His eyes sharpened as he watched the lazy movement. When she undid the top button, he blinked. When she undid the second one, he leaned forward. And when she parted the material to show him the brand-new red lingerie that she was wearing, he reached for her.Matt’s large hands held her hips as he nuzzled between her full breasts. “Are you my present?”“I am.” She lifted his chin to meet her eyes. “I want to make love with you tonight.”His breath caught. “Naomi… you sure?”“Totally.” She smiled and his heart stopped dead at her beauty. “I’m ready, Matt. You?”“God, baby,” he groaned. “I’m so fucking ready.”She pulled back and he groaned again, this time from sheer frustration. She did her buttons up again and he sighed sadly. “I wanted to enjoy the view over pas

She did, and that was when she let go of the last of her defences. As Matt took her with his body, Naomi let him see her in all of her need. No bullshit, no fear, no hiding. She gave herself to him, just placed her whole being in his hands, and he knew it. The beauty of her gift moved him, her complete surrender touched him, and when he kissed her now, it was possessive and savage. She blinked tears from her eyes, amazed at this man's almost greedy acceptance of who she was. And as he saw her, she saw him too, the untamed side of Matt. She'd had glimpses of it this whole time, flashes had broken through from behind his eyes. She'd seen his tenderness, but he wasn't tender now; she'd seen his patience, but he was done waiting. He'd held this part of himself back and pushed it down – and now he was unleashing it on her. And I fucking love it.“I'm close,” he growled. “I'm going to come inside you for the first time... and I can't fucking wait.”His words sent her desire into overdrive

Janine watched King leave and she sighed. God, she felt like a goddamn idiot. It was clear as day that she’d said and done some pretty questionable things when she was in one of her manic states. She had faint memories of saying things to him, about him… trying to kiss him, trying to go home with him. She flushed, horrified and embarrassed. She got up now, walked to the bathroom, started to get undressed. She looked at herself in the mirror and grimaced. Wow, she looked wrecked. She shook her head and sighed again.Janine glanced down at her left hand, and focused on the diamond ring there. She stared down at it, unblinking, for several seconds. It was so beautiful, this ring. The engagement ring that she’d always wanted. She stroked it, over and over, and the motion lulled her, soothed her.Almost in a trance-like state, she looked up at herself in the mirror and felt confused. Why was she standing there in her underwear? Had she had a shower yet? She stared at her dry hair, at the ma

“I can find her,” King said at last. “I can get my people to track her down. They’d do it in an hour, I bet.”“Yeah, you could do that.”King heard the ‘but’ at the end of that sentence. “But what?”“But that’s not the way this works.”“Recovery?”“Mmm-hmmm. If Naomi’s relapsed, then that’s her choice. Riding on in there like some white knight isn’t going to change how she’s feeling, or what she’s thinking. It won’t do anything except take away her accountability for her own choices, and the consequences.”“I can talk to her… I can help her work through it.”“You really think she’s going to sit there and talk to you calmly over a cup of coffee right now?” Mirrie shook her head. “No way. If she’s drinking, then she’s already in the tailspin, and you can’t stop it. If she’s not drinking, then she’s thinking things through, and having you force the issue may well push her over the edge to take that first drink.”“Fuck,” he growled.“I know.” She was gentler now. “One of the hardest things

Naomi stood at the front of the packed room; the applause was washing over her, but she barely heard it. She stared down at the bronze coin in her hand, felt its warmth travel from her palm, down the length of her arm, all the way to her core. One year. One year sober.“You can say something if you want,” Mirrie said in her ear. “But you don’t have to. We can just go and talk about what happened yesterday.”Naomi glanced up at her. Those violet eyes were watching her closely, and she smiled.“I’m OK, Mirrie.”“Yeah?” Mirrie looked over at King. “You sure?”“Yes. And I do want to say something.”“Your show, sweetie. You call the shots here.” Mirrie sat down again, and the applause died down.Naomi stood in front of the AA group, gazing down at the coin again. She ran her fingers over it, thinking. Then she looked up.“I almost didn’t get here today,” she said softly. “I came close to relapsing many times over the past twelve months. But the closest I ever came was yesterday.”The whole
