Chapter 31LEVI I stared down at my hands. They still shake slightly sometimes as a result of the withdrawal, but thankfully, I have recovered drastically over the last few days.Ophelia.Her name replayed in my head, and a small smile crept up my face.Ophelia and her mom, Gisele, have been there for me, helping me through this difficult journey. They’ve been nothing but empathic towards me.Speaking of Ophelia… I have been thinking about her more often these days. Her face was always popping up in my head, and I always wanted to have her around me.I wanted to deny noticing the way she watches me from afar with strange intensity in her eyes, and how she would quickly look away before I could ever catch a glimpse of her stare.I sighed. “Hey…” A soft familiar voice spoke, and my heart fluttered, a smile creeping up my face before I lifted my gaze.Ophelia's usual warm smile welcomed me.“You're here? I've been looking around for you…” she paused and sighed, “I almost thought you ra

Chapter 33ELLA POVI WILL GET RID OF YOU!Elena's words echoed in my head as I woke up at dusk to go for a workout. It's been three days since she said those words to me, and they had clung to my head since then.I haven't run into Elena ever since. I haven't heard from her either. I wonder what she has up her sleeves this time.My gaze dropped to my shoelaces lying carelessly on the floor, so I tied them.A part of me told me not to go for this workout. It's dangerous out there, and I might get into trouble, but I convinced myself. It should be safe since it's in the Packhouse compound, and most of them would still be asleep by now. Then I stepped out of the room.Kael's door was still locked, so I left without informing him.A few minutes later, I was jogging endlessly in the compound, breathing heavily. The morning fresh air made me feel better and less stressed.Footsteps echoed behind me as I paused to get some rest, but looking back over my shoulder, I didn't see anyone.Mayb

Chapter 35LEVI YOUR SISTER IS FINE. JUST FOCUS ON GETTING BETTER.That's the same thing I kept hearing over and over again, and it was already messing with my head.Is Ella okay? Why hasn't she come to see me for days now? Did something happen?Knowing that we're in a werewolves' den makes it even scarier. What if they have hurt her?Sitting in the garden, and deep in thought, a masculine voice spoke, drawing my attention.“Hey… You look lost in thought. Are you okay?”I lifted my gaze. A man in his thirties towered over me.He was wearing a pair of black pants, and a long coat. His mid length hair was packed up in a small ponytail with some strands falling at the sides of his face, lining his sharp jawlines.I blinked, “who are… you?”“Oh… Forgive my manners. My name is Stiles,” he said with a warm smile, “can I sit with you, please?”I hesitated, but adjusted for him anyway. He sighed as he sat beside me.For a moment, we just sat there quietly, staring into space. Then he spoke,

Chapter 37Ella Whitmore Kael has been distant for days. He doesn't spend time with me. Doesn't come anywhere near me… He only texts me on the phone. He doesn't even call.I hated to admit how much I've missed his presence. How much his absence has been driving me nuts, and how badly I wanted him around me.My mind drifted to Storm. Perhaps asking him about Kael won't be a bad idea.I hesitated, but left for his apartment anyway, however, I spotted him walking in the opposite direction as I strode down the veranda.“Storm…” I waved to get his attention. He paused, his brows knitting together as I approached him.“Hey…”I fidgeted with my fingers, my chest pounding nervously.Gosh! Maybe this was a bad idea from the get-go.“Uhm… I haven't seen Kael around, so I wanted to ask if you know what he's been up to recently,” I said in a single breath, my voice unsteady. His eyes lingered on me quietly, and I sighed.“Look, I know you don't like me, and that's fine. I'm just worried about hi

Chapter 39Ella Whitmore Kael stared with hunger in his eyes, waiting for me to give him permission, but I didn't.I was foolish, right? He closed the distance between us, his hand moving to my pause, but paused… As though giving me time to refuse, but I didn't.I tried to remain firm… But my body betrayed me as I leaned into him against my will, his hand warming against my cheek, and our lips just an inch apart, his breath warmed on my face.Heat flooded my skin as his thumb brushed against my lips, his other hand settling on my waist. The air thickened between us, my heart pounding in anticipation, but just as our lips were about to touch, a loud crash outside shattered the moment.I quickly pushed him away, catching my breath.I was going to ignore the crash, but a familiar voice screamed. Levi.“Levi…” I panicked, and without a second, I dashed out of the house and into the compound, but froze at the sight that welcomed me. Levi was having another episode. He scratched his body
