Lahat ng Kabanata ng On My Ex's Brother's Bed: Kabanata 61 - Kabanata 70

Ruby’s POVA week passed, and somehow… life went back to normal.Or at least, everyone else’s did.I threw myself into my project, something for the club that was due in a few weeks. Research, drafts, a checklist scribbled across my notebook pages. It gave me something to focus on, something that didn’t involve glowing eyes in the dark, ancient spells, or werewolves with sharp jaws and even darker secrets.I tried not to think about the forest. About Emily. About Austin’s hand wrapped around mine as he pulled me away from that portal.I tried.Friday rolled around quicker than I expected. Normally I’d have spent the night catching up on work or binging on documentaries, but there was a hockey game, and for once… I actually wanted to go.Maybe it was the way things felt lighter lately. Maybe it was because Lisa was suspended indefinitely after her latest round of chaos. I didn’t remember what excuse the company gave, but no one was sad to see her go. Least of all me.It was nice not

Ruby’s POVThe ride back was painfully silent. I didn’t say a word, and neither did John. He kept one hand on the wheel, the other resting on the armrest like he hadn’t just blackmailed me with the one thing he knew I couldn’t fight against, my foster mother. The tires hummed softly against the road, streetlights flashing across the windshield in slow pulses. I stared out the window, watching the world pass in smears of yellow and shadow. My chest was tight. I kept thinking about Austin, how he looked when I left the party, the way his eyes followed me. He didn’t come after me. Maybe he understood that John had sunk his claws into me too deep, that I was trapped all over again. When we finally pulled up in front of the apartment building I used to call home, I didn’t move. My hands stayed clenched in my lap until John killed the engine and stepped out like nothing had happened. No glance back. No words.I climbed out slowly, dreading every step. The lobby was quiet when we entered,

Austin's POV John stared at me like he was looking at a monster. His back hit the headboard, chest heaving. He had no snide remarks left. No smug grin. Just wide eyes filled with terror.“You’re not seeing things,” I said, my voice deep, nearly unrecognizable. “I’m a wolf.”His mouth opened slightly. No sound came out.I took a step closer, letting my claws show, letting him feel the real me. “I warned you. You hurt her. Again and again. And you didn’t stop.”His lips trembled. “What… what do you want?”Before I could answer, I heard footsteps rushing down the hallway. Fast. Multiple sets. Then came the jingle of keys.I snapped my head toward the door. They were coming. My instincts took over. I forced my wolf down, sucking in a deep breath as I straightened up. My claws retracted, fur vanished beneath my skin, bones shifted with a low crack. The air around me pulsed once, and then I stood there, fully human again, just as the door burst open. The hotel manager and two security guar

Austin’s POVMachines beeped in steady rhythm, but Ruby hadn’t moved. Not even once.Every minute felt like it was dragging me closer to the edge of something irreversible. The human doctors had done their best. So had my kind. But she wasn’t getting better.I couldn’t stand there doing nothing anymore.I pushed the door open and walked back into the room, ignoring the startled looks from the nurses. “Doctor,” I called out.He looked up from her chart. “Please wait outside. We’re monitoring her vitals—”“I have another way.” My voice was quiet but firm. “There’s something we haven’t tried yet.”He frowned. “We’ve exhausted—”“No,” I cut in. “I mean something from my kind.”He looked at me cautiously, unsure what I meant.I glanced at Ruby’s pale face, then back at him. “There’s a legend among the Alphas. The blood from the heart of a true Alpha, specifically the first blood from the heart, is said to have healing properties. Strong enough to cure what nothing else can.”He stared at m

Ruby's POVI leaned back into the hospital pillow, ignoring the dull pain in my chest as Wendy’s sharp voice cut through the room like broken glass.“You need to take the blame for the fire,” she said, cool and confident, as if the decision was already made. “John’s reputation can’t afford this kind of scandal. But don’t worry, I have connections. You’ll be protected.”I blinked slowly at her, stunned for only a second before the absurdity of it set in. “Protected?” I repeated. “After almost dying?”Wendy crossed her arms, unbothered. “You won’t go to jail. I can arrange it. The official record will be clean. We’ll handle the rest.”I shifted slightly, forcing myself upright despite the tightness in my ribs. John stood a few feet away, silent, eyes fixed on the floor like a child caught cheating.“So let me get this straight,” I said slowly. “You want me to lie. To say I started the fire that almost killed me.”“It’s the only way to stop the investigation from tearing everything down,
