CHAPTER 181 ELIAS

“Breathe, Isa. The council are good people now. They have been on their best behaviour since their apology, and have been extremely helpful to the pack, like they are meant to be. You have nothing to worry about,” I whispered soothingly, rubbing her back in gentle, circular motions. She sighed, reaching out to smooth out her furrowed temples. “I know. I know I have nothing to worry about, but I just… I have been feeling very restless lately, and my instincts keep screaming at me. The fact that they sent an official missive to request for a meeting rather than just coming here like they usually do makes me even more edgy.”Isadora might not be willing to confront her feelings about why she had been restless and edgy for a while now, but I knew the reason. It was because of her pregnancy. Ever since we had that conversation about the scientist and the experiments carried out on her, she had been a little bit in her head. Sometimes, my Little wolf would just zone out in the middle of

CHAPTER 182 ISADORA

I have never seen Elias get angry this fast. One minute, the council men were speaking, and the next, my mate was blowing up in their faces. But then, who wouldn’t haha reacted the way he did? I understood his reaction. He had every right to be pissed. On the other hand though, I was more shocked than angry. I did not even bother to think about how they found out about the pregnancy. Word was bound to get out sometime. But what they wanted me to do was horrifying. I said nothing as Elias led me to our bedroom, fuming all the way. His anger was white hot, and it threatened to scorch me as if it was a living thing. When we got to the bedroom, Elias slammed the door hard, dropped my wrist, and slammed his fist into the wall. A gasp slipped past my lips. “I cannot believe they had the nerve, the fucking audacity, to face me and say that. I should have ripped their tongues out of their mouths. I should have had them arrested for even thinking that we should have the pregnancy aborted

CHAPTER 183 ISADORA

“She is a danger to us all. We want her gone!”Elias was at the verge of exploding. I could see it. His veins were rising out of his neck and his face was contorted so hard that it would have scared me. But it didn’t, because I was angry too. Before Elias could say anything to the outburst of the Alphas from the other packs, I stood up calmly, masking the rage that was rising swiftly in my blood, and spoke. “No, you don’t. I am your Luna, and right now all of you are just being unreasonable bullies. There is nothing wrong with me, or my child. And I am definitely not a risk to any of the packs. I will NOT listen to you sit here and disrespect me,” I snapped. Their representative stood up and faced me with a grimace. “With all due respect, Luna, you are abnormal. Of course we are wary of you. And we do not want you to birth an abomination that will definitely cause more harm than good, so we want you to leave. We cannot risk the future of our packs on a child that might turn out to

CHAPTER 184 ELIAS

I could not sleep. Even though it had been hours since the confrontation with the lesser Alphas, rage pounded in my blood still. It made me hot and uncomfortable, blazing in my chest like a fucking inferno. How dare those men? As if the council members' blasphemy was not enough, I had to deal with their bullshit too?If Isadora had not stopped me, if she had not gotten past the volcano in my head and called my name, I would have killed that man. And that would have caused even more complications for me. Still, their words were treacherous. To speak of my Luna, of the heir to the throne in that manner… I should have broken their necks one after the other. I knew what they were all scared of, but it made no sense to me. None, whatsoever. And it was not even because I had seen the child in my dream, and I knew he was healthy. No. what baffled me was the way they were all so strongly opposed to Isadora giving me an heir. The problem they had was with her, and not the pregnancy. “Eli

CHAPTER 185 ISADORA

If a pin dropped right now, every single person sitting in this room would hear it land. The council members exchanged wary looks among themselves, and it seemed to me like they were too scared of Elias to look him in the face. Especially considering how angry he was at the last meeting we had with them. Today though, Elias looked calm. His expression was placid, which was a surprise because we all knew what the council was here to discuss. Was he waiting for them to say what new opinion they had to share before his fuse went off, or was he considering going down the path of just ignoring the shit out of them?“You realise that they are too scared to talk to you, right? That's why we've been here for minutes with none of them saying anything,” I said into his head when the silence got unbearable. I had better things to do than to sit here and argue with the council about the nature of my child. They weren't worth it, and I was done letting them get into my head. Elias cocked hi

CHAPTER 186 ISADORA

“You know you don't have to do this, right? It's totally okay to not want to see her. Elias is capable of dealing with the council and the lesser Alphas,” Erina stated, her entire face scrunched up with concern. I stopped pacing and turned to face her. “I know he can, but they keep saying the wrong words and making him angry. I don't want him to be mad, so let's just hear what the witch has to say.”She stood up and stepped closer, taking my hands in hers. “What if the witch supports their words? What if she says you have to get rid of the baby? Look, I know how much this pregnancy means to you. To Elias. You can't give it up. Aborting it will break your heart, as well as Elias's. You don't have to see the witch, Isa. She's just going to make things even more complicated.”I gave Erina a shaky smile, the best I could manage. “I'll be fine. Don't worry too much about me, okay? I'll be alright.”Before she could say anything else, the door opened and Elias stepped in. Erina immediat

CHAPTER 187 ELIAS

“You have a special child, Luna. He is most definitely not normal. There is some sort of etherealism to him, and his aura is very bright. It is unsure if he will bring doom or glory to the pack. That, I cannot say. But you have nothing to worry about on the scientific front. The man who made you into a werewolf was careful not to tamper with your womb. Deeper forces however, are at play. You need to be very very careful.”The witch smiled at the end of her speech, and a frown formed on my face. That was very vague. She gave no indication about the child, if he was going to be bad for the pack or not. Isadora looked shocked, her face blanched as she stared at the witch. My mate looked freaked out, and I felt a surge of annoyance and intense at the witch. I wish I had not listened to Isadora. If things had gone my way, this weird ass woman would not be here. “What exactly does that mean? Is the child going to be good for the pack? Do I have nothing to worry about? You are not giving m

CHAPTER 188 ISADORA

The birth of the baby — my baby — was going to rock the entire pack. I knew it. It wasn't a guess, or a revelation. It was a fact that nestled deep in my bones, settling in there to make a home. The only problem and question that kept circling around my head was this. Was he going to shake the pack in a good way or otherwise? Before the witch and her forsaken, vague consultation, a large part of me had held on to the believe that surely the moon goddess would not be that cruel. Surely the witch would take one look at me and proclaim everything to be alright. But her powder had turned black, and deeper forces were apparently at play. What deeper forces? What were they, and why was there an interest in my child? At the end of their intervention, would my child be respected and revered, or hated and feared? It had to be the former, right? Elias was a good person. A good king. Surely the moon goddess would not bestow upon him a child that would ruin his reputation and every single t

CHAPTER 189 ERINA

“Hey. Are you okay?” Patrick asked, and my eyes flew open at the sound of his voice. Turning around to face him, a sigh slipped past my lips. I shook my head at his question. “No. I am not okay, and you know that. I'm just…hell, I don't even know how I feel,” I mumbled, exhaustion obvious in my words as I held his gaze. He took a seat beside me before speaking. “I figured. I…well, things have been intense for the past few days now and it's hard to settle on just one feeling. So I get you. I kind of understand what you're going through.”His words were meant to be reassuring, and a part of me felt slightly reassured, but I also wanted to tell him that there was no way he could possibly relate to the turmoil inside me. Elias wasn't his cousin, he was mine. Isadora wasn't his sister in law, she was mine. They were my family, not his, so how could his heart possibly be aching in a very intense way for them, just like mine was?I didn't say any of that though. Instead I looked away a

CHAPTER 190 ISADORA

“Little wolf?”I snuggled closer to Elias, my head settling on his chest comfortably. “Mm?”“Are you asleep already?” he asked, and the sleep that had been slowly creeping up on me faded away at the question. I sat up and switched on the bedside lamp to see his face clearly. There was a quality to his voice that bothered me, even though I didn't know what it was. “Is everything okay?” I asked. He chuckled, grabbing my arm gently before maneuvering me back to sleep on his chest. The light clicked off, and the room was dark once more. “You didn't have to be so jumpy, Isa. It was just a question.”A sigh slipped past my lips at his words. “I know. I'm sorry. I just wanted to be sure you're okay, is all.”His hands caressed my hair and he played with them, making me sigh with contention.“I'm okay, Little wolf. I asked if you were asleep because I wanted to know what you were thinking. What is on your mind, love?”Silence stretched between us for several moments as I tried to think. W
