All Chapters of Little Dark Secrets : Chapter 1 - Chapter 10

~Ava~I walked into Professor Calder’s office ready to beg because that midterm grade was going to kill my opportunity to be part of the top students. The door clicked shut behind me and I just started word-vomiting before he even looked up from his laptop.“Please, Professor Calder, I swear I studied, I just blanked, I swear I can rewrite it or do extra credit or clean your office or whatever, just don’t fail me, please…”He closed the laptop. Slowly. Like he had all the time in the world. Then he leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, and finally looked at me. Those stupid blue eyes that every girl in his 8 a.m. lectures drooled over. I hated him on sight for being that kind of hot.“Sit down, Ava.”I sat. My knees were shaking so bad the chair squeaked. He didn’t say anything for like ten full seconds. I was about to start crying for real when he finally opened his mouth.“You’re not failing because you’re stupid. You’re failing because you spent half the semester eye-fucking me i

~Ava~I spent the entire weekend avoiding Jax like he had the plague and a hard-on with my name on it. Didn’t work. Every time I walked into a room he was already there, shirtless, smirking, pretending to stretch so his abs did that stupid thing. I hated him. I hated my vagina more.By Monday I was ready to set the house on fire just to get some peace.Riley texted me at lunch: emergency. I'm at the cafeteria. bring ice cream and a baseball bat.I showed up with a pint of cookie dough and zero chill. She was sitting at our usual table in the corner, hood up, sunglasses on indoors like a celebrity hiding a hangover. The second she saw me she yanked the sunglasses off and I almost dropped the ice cream. Her left eye was fifty shades of purple.“What the actual fuck, Riley?”“Harper,” she spat, like the name tasted bad. “We got into it Friday. She found some old texts from Scarlett, lost her mind, threw a bottle. I ducked. Wall didn’t.”I sat down hard. “You okay?”“Been better.” She s

~Ava~I went to my room but I could still feel it. I still had my skirt twisted around my waist, thighs sticky, brain screaming. I sat on the room chair like a broken doll for a solid ten minutes just breathing through my mouth because if I moved I was gonna do something stupid.Like touching myself.Which he literally forbade me from doing.I hated him so much I wanted to cry,I wanted to rub my clit until I saw stars and then mail him the wet panties with a thank-you note written in blood.Instead I just sat there clenching my fists so hard my nails left crescents in my palms.I heard footsteps.Fuck.I yanked my skirt down, sprinted to the couch in my room, grabbed the remote like I’d been binge-watching some stuff and not getting foot-teased into oblivion by a married professor twice my age.Jax just walked in without walking.“Will you learn to knock?”“You still look like shit,” he said.“Love you too.”He walked over, dropped next to me on the couch. Close. He smelled so sweet.

~Ava~I was still sprawled on my bed, shirt half-buttoned, hair looking like I’d made out with a leaf blower, when Mom knocked once and poked her head in.“Girls’ night looked fun!” she sang, way too chipper for someone who’d been at a charity auction until one a.m. “You two are so cute. Breakfast is ready whenever you’re decent.”Riley, now in my oversized hoodie and acting like she belonged here, gave Mom her sweetest smile. “Thanks, Mrs. S! We’ll be down in ten.”Mom beamed, shut the door, and left us alone again.I stared at the ceiling. “I’m never moving again. My legs are broken. You broke them with your tongue.”Riley snorted. “You’re welcome.”We dragged ourselves downstairs twenty minutes later, me in leggings and the world’s biggest lie (a smile), Riley still wearing my clothes like a trophy. The second we hit the kitchen I froze. There was a girl sitting at the island. Not just any girl. A legit ten-out-of-ten girl. Long black hair, perfect skin, tiny waist, legs for days,

~Ava~Eventually Riley wore me down and I climbed on her shoulders awkward as hell, nearly slipping twice. Jax and Chloe came at us fast, her leaning forward, hands out, laughing the whole time.We lasted maybe ten seconds before Jax basically bulldozed us and Riley dumped me straight into the water.I came up sputtering, hair in my face, and Chloe was already celebrating, arms around Jax’s neck from up top, kissing his cheek. “We win!”He grinned, hands still on her legs. “Told you.”I swam to the steps and got out without a word.Riley followed me. “You okay?”“No.”“Thought so.”We wrapped towels around ourselves and sat on the edge while the adults started eating. Chloe fed Jax a bite of her burger, wiped sauce off his lip with her thumb, then licked it off.I looked away so fast I got whiplash.Mom sat down next to me with a plate. “You’re quiet today, honey.”“Tired.”“You sure? You barely ate.”“I’m fine, Mom.”Chloe called over, “Ava, try the potato salad! It’s so good!”I shov
