Chapter 129: The Dawn of JudgmentElena's POVI didn't sleep that night. How could I, when every time I closed my eyes, I saw the garden that was filled with with life? Burning in flames. Instead, I sat by the window, watching the stars wheel overhead, counting down the hours until dawn. Until the final trial day.The healing trial. The irony wasn't lost on me. They wanted to test our compassion, our ability to heal and help others, when I'd just spent the previous morning accidentally creating a paradise that had to be burned to ash to hide the evidence of what I was.*What I might become,* I corrected myself, remembering Dominic's words. The prophecy could go either way. I wasn't destined to destroy everything. Not yet. Not if I could learn control. But learning control took time, and time was the one thing I didn't have.As the sky began to lighten from black to deep purple, I heard movement in the adjoining chamber. Marcus, was already awake, preparing for whatever the day might

Chapter 131: the final trial 2I knelt beside it, looking for Silverthorne Vine. It would grow near the water but not in it, probably on the banks where the soil stayed moist. There! A flash of silver-green, distinctive leaves with thorny stems. I approached carefully, mindful of the natural thorns the Master had mentioned. The vine was beautiful in a dangerous way, silver thorns gleaming wickedly along stems that twisted around a fallen log. I'd need to harvest it carefully, without damaging the plant or myself.I pulled out the small knife I'd been permitted to bring, using it to carefully cut several lengths of vine, wrapping them in cloth to protect my hands from the thorns. One herb down, two to go.But as I finished harvesting, I heard movement nearby. Another candidate, probably drawn by the same water source.I needed to move. Now.I headed deeper into the forest, away from the stream, looking for areas of deep shadow where Moonshade Root might grow. The forest grew darker as

Chapter 133: The Trial of MercyElena's POVMy wolf pulled me deeper into the forest, away from every landmark on my ruined map. The direction felt wrong… every logical part of my brain screamed that I was wasting precious time, running toward failure instead of salvation. But my wolf's insistence was absolute. *We⁶st. Keep going west.*The forest grew darker as I ran, the ancient trees pressing closer together. The whispers intensified, seeming to follow my movements like curious specters. My lungs burned, my legs ached, but I didn't slow down.Fifteen minutes. That's all I had left.I tried to orient myself, remembering what I'd studied about the required herbs. Moonshade Root grew in shadow, blooming under starlight… caves or deep hollows where darkness reigned. Silverthorne Vine near water sources. And Crimson Moss on ancient trees in areas touched by blood.Three herbs. Three specific locations. And my wolf was leading me away from all of them."This is wrong," I muttered, but my

Chapter 135: The ancient challengeThe Master hurried forward with several healers in tow, checking each candidate's patients systematically. They examined vital signs, tested reflexes, measured the progress of recovery. When they reached my station, I saw the lead healer's eyes widen. He checked again, as if not believing his own assessment. Then he turned to King Theron and bowed."Your Majesty, all of Candidate Rashford's patients show significant improvement. Their symptoms are receding, and their vital signs are stabilizing." He paused, clearly struggling with what he was about to say. "Given the insufficient dosage she administered, this should not be possible through medical means alone.""Yet here we are," the King said dryly. His eyes found mine across the distance, I saw something flash there. "Elena Rashford, approach."My legs barely supported me as I walked forward, every eye in the courtyard following my movement. I could feel the weight of their stares, the judgment and

Chapter 137: the revealElena povKieran led me through winding corridors, his hand never leaving mine. Guards stepped aside hastily at his approach, their eyes widening when they saw my face—probably already bruising from Father's slap.We ended up in what appeared to be a private study, richly appointed but clearly meant for actual work rather than show. Kieran closed and locked the door, then guided me to a chair."Sit," he commanded gently.I sat, suddenly aware of how much I was trembling. Exhaustion, shock, and delayed reaction to everything that had happened crashed over me in waves.Kieran disappeared into an adjoining room and returned with a wet cloth and a small jar of healing salve. He knelt in front of me… not caring about anything, and carefully tilted my face toward the light,"You don't need to, I will heal soon.” I tried to stop him.“Let me take care of you Elena, I was not able to take care of my mate. This is the least I could do.”“It's not your fault” I held his
