In Zurich, Past ten on a Wednesday, three weeks into Mona’s working for him, and the office had emptied out around them. Adam’s phone had lit up with his mother’s name twice already and Natalya’s three times after that. He silenced both without looking. There were conversations waiting for him at home that he had no intention of having tonight. Adam came out of the last call. Mona was still at her desk, laptop open, going through the file line by line like she was hunting for something specific. "Go home," he said, loosening his tie as he crossed toward her. "In a minute." She didn't look up. "Show me," he said, dropping into the chair across from her. She turned the screen. He came around the desk to look, closer than the document required, and neither of them commented on that. "There," she said, tapping the paragraph. "Subsection four. It contradicts page nine." He read it twice. She was right, and it was the kind of thing that would have cost him a quarter million dollars
