Felicia strolled down the pavement, stopping occasionally to take a breath. She hadn't actually eaten lunch, and now that the cold was piercing her coat, she was hungry, and her stomach was beginning to turn uncomfortably. "Ms. Ross, Mr. Hawthorne wants you to go back inside."Felicia paused. This wasn't out of worry, she knew. "I'm not going back," she declared, attempting to go past him while putting her palm to her tummy. The guard remained steadfast. "Ma'am, we can't let you go. It's frigid, you're pregnant, and we'd be held accountable if something went wrong. Just leave, please. Back inside. Felicia's breath was steaming in the cold air as she glanced up at him. She made an effort to speak steadily."Could I borrow your phone to make a call?" I apologize, Ms. Ross. Pain and frustration twisted inside her as she stood there.
