Leaving the royal soldier bleeding out, I turned my attention to the second man. The blood dripping from my muzzle sent him into a terrified frenzy. He staggered back, dropping his gun and pulling a long hunting knife from his belt. I went at him without hesitation, snapping my jaws as he slashed wildly, the blade slicing through the air with a sharp hiss. His eyes were wide with fear. I waited for my moment, and when he swung the knife toward my back, I dodged and lunged, clamping my bloodied teeth around his ankle. My fangs sank into his Achilles tendon, tearing through it as it snapped beneath my bite. The knife slipped from his hand, clattering to the floor as he collapsed in agony. He reached for his ruined leg, but as he fell, his head struck the edge of a table.
