Chapter 31

Damien's POV "Damien!" She cried and burst into tears, covering her mouth and shivering. I didn't even get the chance to complete my statement as she paced, cursing herself. "What have I done!" She ran her fingers through her hair falling to my feet, confused and holding my legs. "Please don't die!" She begged, rubbing her palms together like a prayer. I melted softly, just lost in her panicking state, and goosebumps grasped me. "Won't you be happy?" I muttered, not taking my eyes off her, not minding my injured chest, which still sent pangs of pain to my head. It's just her. And when I saw those eyes peeping from outside, I wanted her inside with me, to taunt her a little. Or maybe that's not the reason. Maybe I just wanted her close and even when Dayla was here to fill up that space, I still tho

Chapter 32

ANELISA'S POVI wistfully stared at the mirror, my palm on her hair as I brushed mildly. A whisper of sadness lingers around my eyes as my heart flips. The room we were in was a sanctuary of elegance. It spoke of wealth and lay nestled within the castle's stone wall. The air lingers with the sweet fragrance of burning candles, the scent of lavender. The soft golden light from the sun travels from the window, illuminating the classical room. Her eyes radiated as if her beauty couldn't be measured. Her hands tasted different jewelry and for a moment, I imagined being in her place soon."You have a beautiful ring", her voice distracted me and I shuddered, jerking me back to reality."Oh, thank you" I responded, my sad face gave room for a smile. My cheeks flushed red.It was from my mate, Peris, and she was aware of that. She always vouches for us.It's the only thing I have of him yet, once he returns from the war, he'll free me from this hellish life. And soon I'll be treated the way I

Chapter 33

Damien's POV"Run! He's coming!"Pants and wails were the noises I heard. I was staring at the person who held me.A teen just as I was, we were running side by side but my mind only blurred as the sight of watching my parents being beheaded crossed my mind.My mother, her hand stretches to me, to grab and before I could reach her, a figure appeared, his fierce eyes and a tattoo at his neck that glistened. He was tall, slightly older than me or the same age, given the look of his face.He was holding a sword, one that drips the blood of the lives he had slay.He was too young to murder, too young to hold a weapon...and I see myself running, just as father instructed with my older brother, urea, who still holds my eyes.He had tears in his eyes but then, not a drop of tear fell from mine. The only thing on repeat in my mind is watching my father fall at my feet.Now... we're at a cliff, below is a lake and the distance is inescapable.I can see lights, flooding on our faces, they've go

Chapter 34

Damien's POV She shook her head, wanting to stop me, but one second here and I'd pass out. "I'd get treated in the royal clinic" I said, exhausted and jumping off the bed. She was scared but then, I didn't want to pay attention to her, not yet. "The doctor, what was the report?" I asked about adjusting my T-shirt which looks stained with mud now. Dayla was behind me now as I needed my phone. To call her, did she run away again? For me to catch her? "They haven't examined you yet, they wanted you to be conscious first" she reports, appearing in front of me and helping me to open the door. "Who knows about this?" I asked weakly as I stepped outside with her. "No one except me and Austin..." "Dayla..." I whispered and then swallowed. "Is she back in the palace?" I pressed on, try

Chapter 35

ANELISA'S POVAstonishment reeled up inside me and the cool breeze that blew from the sleek window swept my skin."Do you think you're so special?" He barked, his fangs were out as his eyes morphed into a yellowish glare. His lips curved into a snarl as his words spoke entirely of his disdain. What was he saying in all of this? The vicious-looking men were just a distance, grinning and my father, who was adjacent to me, wore that proud look at his son-in-law for stopping me."I'm not going with anyone!" I retorted, dragging my bag and struggling to get on my feet. However, Peris grabbed my neck, pressing it so hard that I couldn't breathe, and my limp body was forced to rise.No one was stopping him, and the skin on my face shrank as I wrestled out of his hold."Arghh!" I screeched, kicking my legs, but they weren't on the ground anymore."It's not your decision to make! The sight of you disgusts me!" He brawls while gurgling. My trachea burns as he tightens his grip and flings me asi

Chapter 36

ANELISA'S POV I exhaled softly, my nose sniffed and itched. My eyes scrolled to and fro as I felt exhausted and tired. Earlier, while being brought here, it seemed as though we were injected, and I fell asleep only to wake up and find myself in a hall, sitting on a golden chair. The fluorescent lights shimmered on my face, and I was still quite confused. If this was an abduction...I should be somewhere in a dingy cell. I swallowed hard, lowered my eyes to my hand, the chain wasn't there and that seemed like a relief. Where am I? This place was a buzz of activity with the maids scurrying about, their footsteps echoing off the stone wall. It seemed as though they were preparing for an impending feast. Their scales glow, as if they ripped with malevolent intent. Tables were set, candles lit, and the air filled with the s

Chapter 37

AnelisaEverything becomes blurry, I couldn't even see Ryker or hear his voice due to the height this dragon had lifted me.Not thrako's but another, so massive that I could barely see it.I screamed, the fear of my child, of losing my life as the world spun around me.Time seemed to slow down as I felt myself being lifted higher. The air rushed past me, the sounds of palace destruction growing fainter.I was going to die.Thoughts spun inside me and suddenly, I'm falling! From the tower and below... there's no end because I see nothing. The dragon released me and I flew towards the floor, my stomach dropped, my sense on high alert.I yelled, being whipped by the wind as I curled around her, trying to protect her.The ground rushed up to meet meThis was the end.Just as I was about to hit the ground, a strong arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me back.I felt a jolt, fear rushing through me as I yanked upwards. I was suspended mid-air a far distance from the tower and the same as t

Chapter 38

Anelisa "You're confusing yourself because how would it know that I'm setting some of it's kind free to their world?""They commune! Somehow but just be aware that you caused the destruction today""Are you just bent on seeing me as the cause of everything? Like there have been no dragon attack until I show up?""Yes! There have been no attack by dragons" I barked feeling like my head would explode because he makes me talk too much.My baby shook in his arms as his face grew ashen.I kept pacing to and fro."So you'd want to risk your life for a dragon?""My dragon" I corrected as he scoffed unbelievable."I wish I was that dragon" he suddenly mused and his tone was quite envious. Why isn't he mad at me? He should be angry. He has to be angry!"That dragon is so lucky that I can't kill him because of you""What?" I muttered startled by his words as he was dead serious by that."I also wa

Chapter 39

Anelisa He'd compensate them, mostly those that had their house burnt due to the attack and from the little I got to pick from the speech he made, he promised to make the land safe again.According to him, he and his queen would find a solution to tame the beasts. They cheered him but then he told them not to because they were all mourning today.A chant for victory is all he'd want to hear when he returns.I left there back to the palace, so sober and broken because I didn't for once though of the people that were affected by the attack. But then...what if rhyker was pretending? Of course, he would be just so the people would love him.It was noon already and the knock on my door had me jumping and running to answer it.Usually, I allow him to knock several times but just a knock had me running to him.He flinched, surprised and then cleared his throat. My eyes roamed around his face, his eyes were still re

Chapter 40

[Harry's POV]I said nothing as her smile only radiates and leaves me jinxed. I'd want to hold her, if she'd let me.I almost pulled her for an embrace but this happy night would fade away soon if she knew who I was."So how are you doing today, boy?" She asked in a flirty tone, dumping the teddy bears in my hand."Well, happier than ever, now that you're here" I replied, hugging the bears and she pats my shoulder softly."Do you mind me asking how you got out?" I said in a brief smile as my eyes grazed her."Well, let's say I teleported," she said casually, forcing a laugh from me."I want to have that super power of yours"Saying that might seem flirtatious but I meant it in every way.She chuckled and then shook her head before attending to the boys who were leaping all over her."Oh look at you guys" she teases them, grabbing their wrists and flailing their hands. She was walking ahead of me now, with them as they were discussing, while I steadied my steps. My eyes roamed all over
