ELRIC'S POV The gun sits wrong in my waistband. I shove it deeper anyway. You will be the one holding the gun to Leah's head. Prove your loyalty tonight. My father's voice rings in my head again. I'm done listening to it. If it kills me, so be it. The hallway is dim, quiet, my pulse the loudest thing in it. I move toward Leah's door, key already in hand. It turns and clicks. I push the door open an inch and look in. She's curled in the corner, knees to her chest. Her head snaps up. I put a finger to my mouth, hushing her. "I'm coming back for you," I whisper.
