What do I tell him? The truth was, the last time I had sex with Mason, I had felt so much pain, it practically scared me to try again—he mostly used his hands and tongue when he wanted intimacy. And that was two years ago! Mason had cheated on countless occasions that, after I had stayed on the third count, I couldn’t bring myself to tell Lana the actual reason I wasn’t spending much time with him. It was after Lana caught him in the act, I was able to muster the courage to tell her he had cheated severely, yet I stayed…because I didn’t want to lose him. I had lost so much already. Mason caused me the greatest pain after the death of my parents—when I so desperately wanted to be loved by someone.I stared at Jack, blinking more than necessary, begging my spiralling mind to come up with something else to say. I couldn’t lay my emotional baggage on him. The full truth wouldn’t do for now.“Two years ago.” I said, my voice, a low whisper. He stared at me wide eyed in shock, surprise or d

“He just sat there?” Lana asked, incredulous.“He did, I shouldn’t have told him how I felt. I feel so stupid.” I said, pressing the silhouette column sheath dress to my body and doing a mirror check with it.“I’m happy you’re in high spirits and have agreed to finally escort me. I hated seeing you sad and sulking.” she said, mirror checking her own dress.“I have to start somewhere, don’t I? Ugh I hated that after a whole week I still hadn’t come to terms with it. I fucked it up Lana, now I miss him so much.” I groaned, dropping myself onto her bed.“Hey now, we’ve made great progress these past few days, you’re finally talking to me, don’t retreat,” she said, sinking next to me on the bed.“Look. I get it Robin, he was intoxicating, mysterious and a God, but you’ve got to do this for you. You knew what you wanted and he didn’t. That’s his problem.”I nodded. I had to do this—for me. After the awkward moment with Jack a week ago in his car, I had slipped back into my pre-Jack routine.

He strode to the kitchen and set me on the countertop, his hand on my waist—looking deeply into my eyes. He traced his fingers along my cheek and lips.“You’re all I think about.”“Jack, you ignored me for days.”He dropped his head down, ashamed, stepping away from me.What was his problem? He ran his hands through his dirty blonde out of exasperation or anger, I had no clue what was going on in that beautiful head of his.“That’s because you’re all I fucking think about, Robin.”Why was he angry at me?“You look scruffy because I’m all you think about?” I said, confusion spreading across my face.“Don’t be smart, Lady.”I slid down from the counter, tugging my dress down as I looked up into his eye.“Can you fucking tell me what’s going on with you?”“Watch your mouth.”I scoffed. “You can curse all you want, but I can’t?”“Exactly, what I’m saying.”I heaved a sigh, running a hand swiftly through my hair. This man gets me so fucking hot.“Why have you been ignoring me? You disappear

“Good Morning.” I greeted Millicent as I entered the chemical lab. This was a first, seeing her face this early. I strode to my office and popped my phone and personal effects in the drawer.“Hi, Robin.” she chirped. She must be in a good mood. “I imagined how awkward it was the last time at Home McCullen, I’d like to apologize for my behaviour.”Oh?This was unexpected. I didn’t know what to say. I stood in the doorway, utterly surprised. I hadn’t pegged her for the type to be remorseful.“Um, it’s quite alright, Millicent. You were just concerned about the operations here.”Even though I knew her behaviour had more to do with me spending time with Jack than with the confectionery, I still appreciated her apology—or act. You just couldn’t tell with her and I outright couldn’t care less.“Indeed, I was.” she sighed, then added. “I’m glad you understand.” She said, her grin spreading wide, lighting up her face.“Oh, before I forget, I gave your phone number to Mason. I meant to ask you

A soft knock tapped against my door, followed by Lana’s quiet voice.“Robin, it’s been three days already, please come out. You haven’t said a word to me, or left the room. This is your last chance before I employ Mom and Dad’s help to bring down the whole apartment building.” she threatened.I unlocked the door, its soft creak lingering as I slowly pulled it open for her to enter. I fall apart in her arms, the tears refusing to stop gushing out.“I’m so pathetic, Lana. Why do I keep doing this to myself?” I sniffled, choking on my tears.“Oh Robin, you’re anything but pathetic.” She hugged me tightly, stroking my long, thick hair in a slow measured rhythm.“But you’ve got to eat something, please.”“I’m not hungry.” I sniffled loudly, breathing through my mouth.I felt and looked a mess. I hadn’t stepped outside in three days. I’d locked myself inside, grieving and wallowing in pain and self-pity. I blamed and tore myself apart for falling for yet another cheat, for allowing myself to
