Alpha Kael's POVThe servant adjusted the collar of my black shirt for the third time and I was beginning to lose patience."If you touch that collar again, I'll have you polishing the training grounds with a toothbrush" I said. The young servant immediately stepped back."My apologies, Alpha" he said.I looked at my reflection in the large mirror. The fresh outfit was better than the one Rio had ruined.I still suspected he had spilled that drink intentionally but the question was why.Rio was many things but he was rarely careless, which meant his little accident had a purpose.I just hadn't figured it out yet.The servant nervously brushed invisible dust from my sleeve."Done?""Y-yes, Alpha.""Good."I adjusted my cuffs and glanced toward the large windows of my chambers. The evening sun was beginning to disappear behind the distant hills surrounding the estate.A knock sounded at the door but I already knew who it was. Only one person in this estate knocked that politely."Enter"

Alpha Kael’s POV The corridors leading to the dining hall were unusually quiet, filled with an undertone i didn’t fully understand. My footsteps echoed against the polished stone floor as I moved forward, hands clasped behind my back, my expression unreadable but my mind wasn’t. Rio had vanished again for reasons unknown to me after he had stupidly poured wine on me earlier and that alone irritated me more than I cared to admit. He was a Beta. A useful one, yes, but still expected to remain within reach when needed, especially tonight which was not a night for disappearing acts. I stopped one of the guards standing near the hallway entrance. “Where is Rio?” I asked. The guard stiffened instantly. “I—I am not sure, Alpha" he replied. I exhaled slowly through my nose. “Find him" I ordered. “Yes, Alpha.” He hurried off without hesitation then I continued walking towards the grand dining hall. The scent of food grew stronger as I approached the dining hall and e

Liora's POVFor several long seconds after Rio spoke, nobody said a word. The fabric of my dress rustled as I shifted where I stood and yet all I could hear was the pounding of my own heartbeat.Buy me?The words echoed unpleasantly inside my head.Fay was the first to recover."What do you mean buy her?" She asked, her voice rising sharply.Tristan looked equally confused and his eyebrows drew together."Rio, what are you talking about?" He asked.Rio rubbed his forehead then sighed heavily."I shouldn't have come here" he said."You absolutely should have" I snapped. My arms folded across my chest."You don't get to say something insane and then leave" I said.Rio's jaw tightened. I could tell he wanted to walk away but none of us were allowing that. His gaze landed on me and for a brief moment, nobody spoke then he finally exhaled."Amarok is a rogue Alpha.""We know that," Fay said."Then why are you acting confused?"Fay glared at him."Because being a rogue Alpha doesn't mean he

Liora's POVI immediately wished Fay was sitting beside me but that wasn't how things worked in Alpha Kael's estate.I found myself seated at the enormous dining table between people I would rather avoid.Elena sat on one side, Ruby sat beside her and Vesha occupied the next seat. The three women looked elegant and judging from the expressions they kept throwing in my direction, they weren't happy to see me.I could practically feel their irritation.Elena especially. She looked at me as if my mere existence offended her, which honestly wasn't surprising anymore.I adjusted slightly in my chair and glanced behind me.Fay stood among the servants and she offered me an encouraging smile.A few moments later the doors opened again and everyone looked up to see Rio who just entered. He looked composed, as if he hadn't just barged into my room earlier trying to stop me from coming.Alpha Kael's eyes immediately narrowed."You're late" he said.Rio gave an exaggerated sigh."My deepest apol

Liora’s POVThe blade was still against my throat, cold and unforgiving, yet my body felt like it was the one trembling, not the steel.Inside my head, everything screamed at once.I’m scared. This is messed up.Is he going to kill me now? Those thoughts ran through my head but I couldn’t let it show, not here, not in front of him and most definitely not in front of everyone. So I lifted my chin slightly anyway and said the only thing I could manage.“Do it" I said again, willing my voice to not shake. The silence that followed felt heavier than the blade itself and my heart was beating so fast it hurt."Moon Goddess… don’t let this be how it ends. Don’t let it end like this" I said within myself.Behind Alpha Kael, Amarok moved, slowly at first then he stood and the air in the room shifted instantly. His presence changed the temperature.“Let her go,” Amarok said calmly.Alpha Kael didn’t even turn.“This is none of your concern. She is in my estate and I can do whatever I want with
